P1 Gearbox

Hi,

P1 gearbox for sale, rebuilt with 3rd gear replaced 13k miles ago.

3rd gear could very occasionally crunch slightly at high revs but I am pretty sure this was due to the clutch being on its last legs. Drove perfectly apart from this and always used with Redline shockproof oil.

Gearbox, selector, cradle and gearbox mount, rear diff (R160 4.444), prop £150

Needs a rebuild mate, clutch won't cause crunch within the gearbox itself!

My 5th is going, would do a deal for the lot to refurb and fit to mine without takin me off the road.

Not true.

If the clutch wont engage fully it can affect gear selection.

Had it in another car, was hard to get every gear, all crunched. When a new clutch was fitted the box was perfect again.

I find it hard to believe that 3rd has gone again after just 13k but want to be honest. The specialist agreed that its probably the clutch causing it.

I understand your argument but if a clutch effected a gearbox causing it to crunch it would be all gears not one. And more so the one that "has been refreshed".

Regards the specialist nothing like wiping you hands clean!

Previous experience started off as one gear not selecting properly, then the more the clutch went the more gears were affected.

I don't understand the last comment? The specialist had nothing to do with the rebuild of the gearbox. Just the 6 speed conversion.

crunch is gearbox syncro on the gear in question, never clutch

you can drive a car without clutch and no crunch if gearbox syncro's are all good

Davros 1979 20 May 2014 07:21 PM

I disagree as had it before.

Anyway it crunches very lightly, only at high revs and probably about 1 in every 30 shifts.

Just trying to be completely honest and that's why it's very cheap.
