gauge fitting , live feed cigarette lighter
Quick question.
On a classic MY99, I need a switched live and was hoping to use the back of the cigarette lighter instead of hacking into the ignition . Can any kind person show/explain a complete numpty when it comes to car electrics where on the back of the cigarette lighter is the live feed. I need 6 amps and up. I have taken the centre console out and have access to the back of the lighter but there are so many wires I don't know which one to splice into. Thanks :thumb: P.S I did do a search but it made my head hurt :) |
U will need a test light to find out which wire is live unless sum 1 kno's which colour wire u need to splice into

I too have an Alpine I just opened the pin a bit on one the ISO black put the wire in with that and then clamped it back down again, I used the ignition wire and negative wire!
|
As above, use the ignition live from the head unit block. The red wire I think, just cut it and then use some crimp connectors to rejoin them with the gauge wire in it too.

I would use the head unit. We all do work fine

The standard head unit wiring will be fused at less than that. |
thanks guys, will try the head unit and see if that works. I think 6 amp will be fine

Looks like u need to do it the hard way go from the battery or pay someone . We all don't like paying if u can do it your self but . It's better then taping into a wire that may or could
Set on fire . Sorry to say fire. But u may just get smoke lol. :( |
