VF30 billet Vs VF34 Vs VF35?

Hi guys,

I was contemplating on what setup I should use for a 2005 WRX (blobeye) which with supporting mods would hopefully reach around the 330hp mark.

The turbo would be used and I heard that the VF30 can be a bit laggy at low RPMs (below 3000) so would a billet compressor wheel fix that? This is the one I had in mind:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Billet-Tur...-/131081206348

The VF30's seem to be cheaper than the VF34 so I was wondering whether for the price of a billet compressor wheel plus the turbo would it be a better combination than the use of a VF34?

There is also the other option of getting a VF35 which I know is a decent turbo but I was a bit unsure whether going down the route of a billet VF30 or VF34 would be the better alternative :wonder:.

depends what you want and what your budget is, if you stretch to it then sc32 or 36 woud be great choices, but not likley to find em second hand.

I know that there was a billet SC36 for sale recently for around £650 I think? My budget is around 350-450 which I know is enough for a VF34 or a VF30 plus a billet compressor wheel but I don't know whether putting a billet wheel in a VF30 would be worth it rather than a standard VF34.

Looks good, what was it like for daily use? Such as at low RPMs, top end, etc.

Nice, is that with a forged build and 6 speed? As even though my blob has only done shy of 56k and has stainless steel headgaskets I wouldn't want to blow my engine and gearbox hence why I am opting for 330hp.

i think it did let go after that or was that after it was rebuilt shrek?

mine was on standard uk turbo engine with about 90k on it hahaha, i think mine would have benefited from header upgrade as well, shame cos guy who bought it crashed it so never got to find out :(

That's a shame, my classic is running 340bhp but the engine seized after having some fun on the way back from Lydden Hill. On the plus side I still have got ago of memories of keeping up with a gallardo, R8 V10 which was killed off by what seemed an extremely modified A4 estate diesel :cuckoo::D aswell as a tuned ST and tracked prepared MK2 GTi.

Now it's running a V2 STi long engine with forged pistons, cometec headgaskets, oil pump, etc and purring once again :thumb:.

I have decided to go down the route of buying a Kinugawa after the good results and reviews as well as the unbeatable prices :thumb:

my oil pump failed on the day of mapping-just done the last run on the dyno when the dreaded death-rattle came calling.................not happy.

replaced engine with a 2003 v8 sti long engine and been fine ever since

Have you considered a billet td04 or td05? Braveheart sti is your man, they are proven and he makes andy forests turbos I believe, cheaper than the kingua too.;)

Billet tdo4 is good for 320/330 with supporting mods, giant slaying spool too, if your not a high speed merchant it's where it's at for low down and midrange go up to silly speeds on the road anyway, perfect for a daily IMO.

SC32

My SC32 is for sale but, I don't know what sort of money to ask. It's in excellent condition and was running 305 so not pushed? I'm in Wiltshire:wonder:

Edwardjr 26 May 2014 10:10 AM

Ditchmyster, is the billet TD04 the same as the TD04 hybrid or are they two separate turbos?
