Looking good :)

I'm loving the AD08R's on my JDM hatch (18")

I have them on the Type R too (17") and was concerned in 18" with the super stiff sidewall the ride would be harsh... which it isn't :)

Great tyres, great car

Thanks and I agree, fantastic tyres, great all rounder :thumb:

Great thread, thank you! Was there a noticeable difference between the Michelin ss and the yokos?

The Michelin Pilot Super Sports are a great road tyre and better suited if you mostly drive on the road. On track they get hot and ‘greasy’ quite quickly, they also have quite a soft side wall.

The AD08R’s perform much better on track, handle the heat better and have a stiffer side wall. This comes at the cost of some compliance but I happily use them as an all round tyre like many others. :thumb:

Thanks; AD08R'S sound much more like the Potenza re070s that the spec C hatch was built on. Unfortunately 245 40 18's are only available in Japan, so I will have to get wearing the Michelins out!

I would concur with your RE070 comparison - The Yoko's really seems to suit the car well :thumb:

Cleaned up the pax side rear disc

Pretty happy with how they look now

I’m contemplating doing the ‘free caster mod’ if anyone’s done it I’d be keen to hear your thoughts :thumb:

One thing I’ve always wanted to do to the car is change the steering wheel...

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...d3c555a26.jpeg

After much deliberation... Damd or retrim the OE wheel :wonder:

I decided to have the OE wheel retrimmed by Royal Steering Wheels. Really happy with the result, very high quality.
I went with black alcantara with black stitching.

Easy to swap too..

Cars just about there now, a few bits to tidy up then off to RCM for a service.

Another picture of the new steering wheel... :D

Free caster mod... :wonder:

scooby kid 29 July 2018 06:02 PM

Great car ! Perfect mods

Kev_STI 30 July 2018 11:54 AM

This is really nice! Do you feel a difference on track with removal of the rear spoiler? I quite like that look.

I wouldn’t disagree with you :thumb:

Have you experience of any of them? (400 or 420?)

Thanks :)

I’ve not had it on track since removing the spoiler but my blob type uk survived a fair few laps of the ring spoilerless so hopefully it’ll be fine.

Yes I have a ceramic coated LM400 with RCM equal length headers and RCM parallel fueling. Mildly mapped atm to about 360bhp. A little bit more lag than the VF but so much more power and torque consistently through the full rev range. I'm hoping to cut some lag with a 20% meth mix and see where I can push the power on a standard top mount, maybe 420ish? :top:

Is this on a spec c and is it the billet version ? Why did you only have it mapped to 360bhp ?

Only a little question: how did you passed the safety belt (the floor part) pass through the seat? I've tryed but the only way to do I think is to bent over o bass it on the side. Look at my photo

i think it looks great with the rear spoiler delete too!

nozzavtr 06 September 2018 11:07 AM

changing the mounts to the STI Grp N ones, have you noticed any difference at all? Any more vibration etc?

I used a different (flexible) seat belt clip, as seen here:

The short answer is yes, there is more vibration but the whole of the drivetrain on my car has Grp N bushes. The pay off is much less slop in the drivetrain :thumb:

can you please tell me where you ordered that extended seat belt clip ? Thank you :)

From which car came from? I've tried one but didn't fit!

Many thanks for the reply, I'm considering changing mine at some point, I had some on an old Citroen Saxo and the vibrations drove me mad, however my Impreza isn't my daily and I think I can live with it!

Dreep 24 September 2018 12:32 AM

Looking great! Just needs more power now as its been highlighted above. I am looking to sell my LM400 soon to go for an MD321V TS at some point so that could be an option there for you? The car has been running 400/400 for quite some time now and is really responsive and to be honest I'm probably silly going for a larger turbo. Regardless, if you are looking into turbos I think something along the lines of a 400 bhp turbo are going to be the best should you want to keep in with OE driveability, reliability and relatively fast spooling characteristic the JDM cars have.

The steering wheel looks great too, freshens up the interior quite a bit!
