Been looking though but couldn't find if you had done a sc46 b on a 2.1 or 2.3 Cheers mick |
Very nice indeed.
All I need to see now is the same but on a 2.1 :D I'm thinking the GT30 Billet is going to be a winner for me ;) Just need to get it all together, up and running / run in now...... :( LOL |
Need some help choosing injectors for the SC46 TS on the way to me :)
I'm running the v8 EJ207 (exhaust/intake/inlet/larger tmic) and plan to use E85 as my primary fuel, but also have a "safe" map for pump gas (93 octane) when needed. Right now the ID1000's and ID1600's look to be my best bet. I'm just not sure if I will really need the 1600's, I'd rather save the $400 if I can but don't want to go for a tune only to realize I'm maxing the 1000's. John |

John Hi, 1000cc injectors will be fine for the SC46 Billet twin scroll even using E85. :thumb: cheers Kev |

Kev. All these recent questions remind me that I wanted to ask you a couple about my sc46 twinscroll.
When the build is finished, (2.5 forged) and the simtek is fitted, what would you suggest I run as my 2 switchable maps?. High boost/low boost, or maybe v-power/meth mix, or something else altogether to get the best out of the turbo. Secondly, the ALS is activated but is it ok to use or is it just going back down the "gizzmo shags your valves" route, and would this invalidate any warrenty on the turbo? Numpty questions I know, but its alright Im a numpty:Whatever_ |

Just bumping this in case you missed it Kev,,,, or is it unanswerable?:wonder:
Hi , very difficult to answer, switch-able maps are the choice of you and your mapper, I can never see the point of low boost and high boost maps, use the accelerator pedal to choose how much squirt you give it. :thumb: For me it would be a switch-able fuel map instead but it may not suit you personally. :wonder: If anti lag is used permanently I guess it would invalidate any warranty with turbo's or engine builds, I doubt however you will use it much, many people use it to show their mates, but again its all about personal choice. :D Cheers Kev cheers Kev |

Hi John,
We have had many requests for a smaller BB cored turbo than the SC46 Billet, more details when they become available next month. :D cheers Kev |

John Bearing in mind 740cc injectors should be capable of 500+ bhp, so even if your "1000s" were only 850-900s, then you'll have waaay more than enough headroom anyway... :) |

A SC46 on E85 should make on or around 500bhp I would have thought.

I thought they were good for 'only' ;) 520-540bhp. :D |
How would you rate a set of 650cc injectors, would they be 'man enough' for an SC46 twin scroll (due to be ordered very shortly)? :)

Hi, we would say 495 BHP. :thumb: Some may differ in the way they estimate injector caperbility but I have allways used the simple equation "(injector cc X 4) divide by 5.25 = potential BHP". :D Works for me. ;) cheers Kev |
Eeeh, that's a groovy formula that - I like it. :)

I have one of your sc50 billets on a 2.1, still having some probs with induction but what hp/torque would you expect when sorted please?

Hi, its a 500BHP turbo that with its billet compressor wheel should do 500 + BHP as long as the supporting mods work well together. :thumb: We are to map an SC46 Billet tomorrow on a 2.1, results to follow. :D Cheers Kev |
^^^very interesting^^^

Any news on wether the 40 is doing what its supposed to yet? cheers.

Hi, sorry I am not with you. :wonder: The SC40 billet has always done what it says on the tin, in fact an SC38 billet did 403 BHP yesterday. :thumb: cheers Kev |

Stop teasing kev
What did the 2.1 do with the sc46 |
Hi Kev,
Sorry, could be picking up dog ends from skim reading this thread ..... comment was based on posts from about this time last year which i didnt see an update for. ''First SC40 billet made 373.9 BHP, a different comp wheel and its made less.'' Isnt the 36 and 38 making more with presumably better spool? I was assuming that with the 36 recently getting 400+ on the right motor and right fuel, the 40 should achieve more like what im looking for with a small sacrifice in spool.... if the 40 is providing 430+ on a 2.5 it could be just what im after.:) Alternative is to spend a bit more on the 46 which would suit what im looking for with spool similar to the smaller sleeve turbos. downside being obviously the higher price, higher rebuild costs and not quite so beefy to cope with the antilag. Again, apologies if ive skimmed over anything that would answer my questions somewhere in the thread.... much respect though, i think this range of tugboats is top of the game for theyre price at the moment, think im just strugglin to pick where in the range my needs fit!:thumb: |
Also, the SC42 and "billetised" is allegedly being reintroduced, so that might be the ideal tubby for your needs?

you are right in saying the SC42 is being re-introduced with a new comp wheel, a batch is being produced now, delivery to us by the end of next week. :D I can see "legacy_gtb",s point , its such a long thread it is easy to skim over and miss stuff but as an update the first test SC40 Billet was not up to speed, since then we have introduced two new wheels, one for 2.0 ltr engines without avics and one for avics and bigger capacity such as 2.1 and 2.5 engines. :thumb: The SC46 Billet is a great turbo, its not fussy what capacity engine it goes on just seems to do the job, I have got one on my mower. :D cheers Kev |

SC42
Hi Kev,
Why was the SC42 'Withdrawn' if that's the right word/what happened and why a new wheel - only asking as I have an SC42 billet on mine. As I recall I was told to get the SC42 over the SC40 at the time because the SC40 was not quite doing what was expected? Just curious? Cheers. H. |
