RetroRacer 27 February 2010 11:36 PM

Thank you the first set of pictures were done by my friend rob over at robjamiesonphotography and the others were by myself just got myself a new camera and im looking into taking up automotive photography as a hobby :) lots to learn yet tho!

DaveBeck 28 February 2010 12:37 AM

Saw your car over on the Carbon vinyl thread. Love the look

Ive got the roof done also but im wanting to do my boot lid. Any tips on doing it or problems you came across? Could cold beers persuade you to help lol

Im going much wider on wheel soon (40mm) mine isnt dropped as far as yours, only prodrive springs. Arches have been rolled though.

eggy790 28 February 2010 09:38 AM

what wheels are those? rota forces?

RetroRacer 28 February 2010 10:35 AM

All i can say Dave is best of luck, i laid the vinyl on the back of the boot first with the vinyl pulled tight and laid over the bumper to keep it off the boot as i heated and squeegeed it down, this was the easy part, u need a second pair of careful hands to hold it when folding the vinyl over the top part of the boot, the most annoying tricky part is where the spoiler holes are located there is a dip in the boot like channels, just need to keep the vinyl at a good warm/hot temp and take great care doing small sections at a time methodically whilst keeping the vinyl taught and off the bodywork at all times, it may sometimes seem like its going to crease if it does just pull it back and gently heat and re-squeegeey holding the squeegeey at a sharp angle, at least you dont have to worry about bubbles with this stuff which is a great help, pay extra caution when cutting the keyhole out, i took a while doing this as i didn't want any gaps or evidence of it being a wrap, i also panel wiped tricky areas i thought the vinyl would have problems sticking to, for instance where i tucked it over the edges all around the bootlid, afterward give it all a thorough heating straight after its finished and you should be good! by no means is it easy i was so fussy and didn't even let my co-worker touch it the whole time he helped lol its one of those jobs you really need to tackle yourself that way if u F it up its only yourself to blame lol.

The wheels are Rota Forces yes. 18x9 et35

Cheers for the advice mate. local vinyl specialist it is then lol

ScoobyRalph 28 February 2010 06:23 PM

Absolutely stunning car, very original and i am a big fan of the spoiler delete that i have seen on a few cars. But the overall affect is wow!! :notworthy so fair play for being original.

Wow. Stunning mate. Stunning.

Looks almost like my mates car except his car is blue and he has black alloys.

Your have done a good job mate. White on black suits the de-spoiler look very well.

Scots Subie 07 March 2010 10:40 AM

Hey retroracer love this look imo i liked the dark wheels but everyones different been following this look for a while now and really liking the carbon look bootlid out of interest (want to do it myself)
what were the measurements of vinyl you needed to cover the boot thanks in advance!

RetroRacer 07 March 2010 10:44 AM

Thanks Scot, i had 3 metres which did my roof the boot, mirrors and door pillars, i would say it took roughly 1.5-1.7 to do the boot as you need a fair amount overhanging to grip whilst pulling it into shape :)

M444GY 08 March 2010 04:52 PM

looking good :thumb: thank god scooby handbrakes are quite good lol

RetroRacer 08 March 2010 07:18 PM
