Cheers mate, its nice to get support, i am so peeved that it was my error causing this, i should have moved the wires in the first place, i am just trying to sort a new front wiring harness, it saves repairing the wires.

A whole day i spent looking in the wrong place, and now i have ended up with my inlet bolted to the heads with loads of gasket sealant to make sure of no leaks, and no insulating spacers!, so i will have to take it back off, clean it all up and put the spacers back on!, i am a ****! hey ho, its the price we pay for quick old wagons.

Next is some more bad news, my ****ing clutch is slipping now, so need to but and fit an uprated one!, credit crunch my arse!! (i hope)

Pat was telling me you can't do it this way as you can only have one map and mine is on autronics ?? I understand you can have different boost settings?? but I dont see the point of say a 1.1bar boost and 2bar boost setting as I would only use the 2bar setting :)

Glad you found the cause Sam, annoying to have wasted time but at least its a straight forward fix :)

Cheers mate, i am not having much success in finding what i need loom wise, i cannot tell from just looking at the car, if the damaged part of my loom (near the bottom of the rad and headers) is permanently attatched to the whole loom or unplugs from somewhere near the fusebox or what? i dont want to have to change the whole bloody cars loom just to sort the damaged bit!, any assistance on this would be greatly appreciated?

Jay m A 16 December 2008 08:46 AM

How many wires have been affected? You can chop out the damaged ones and rewire - disconnect battery first!

kardaani 16 December 2008 12:39 PM

In case you didn't fix the power steering yet, here goes.. Whenever you drain the fluid for any reason, you must first turn the steering full left to full right (without the engine running!) and back a few times, topping up the reservoir as needed. Then you must do the same with the engine running and PS pump running obviously. Now the car should be good for a spin.

When the pump is running it pays to be a careful with the steering action, as your pump might barf some atf (along trapped air) and reckless behaviour behind the wheel will only make the mess bigger.

trails 16 December 2008 03:38 PM

Not sure about the loom I'm afraid Sam, but I do have some heat reflective sleeve if you are interested when you do replace it. I've got a pic of how I've wrapped mine that I'll dig out for you.

samcowrx 16 December 2008 07:53 PM

Cheers guys, i have been speaking to someone on here called Brett, he has nicely given me a little advice and encouragement to repair the loom myself, which i am now going to do, (i am an electrician btw!), i ordered a new soldering iron and some heat shrink, solder, solder aid etc yesterday, so a repair i will now do!.
Heat sleeve stuff sounds good trails?

samcowrx 16 December 2008 07:55 PM

It looks like between 6 and 10 wires affected so far!
Hopefully the simtek ecu will still be alright, and the fans, lights, abs, and any sensors?!

M535I 16 December 2008 08:45 PM

There is always a way Steve, get yourself a laptop and your own Autronics software.
Get Pat to do you a second map and save them both on your laptop, then you can load and reload each map as many times as you want.

I feel a little better now, i have just got some Cosworth pistons for my 2.1 cdb build, and brand new P1 suspension to go on the wagon.

Brett_555_Sti 17 December 2008 06:56 PM

I'm Brett, Have you sorted the wires yet?

Hi mate, the soldring iron kit arrived today, just waiting for heat shrink and to pick up the wire from my stores tomorrow, then i will hopefully get on it at the weekend!, cant wait to get it running as it was only running properly for 3/4 days!

trails 31 December 2008 05:58 PM

Sam, sorry its taken so long but here are a couple of crappy pics...but you get the idea. I split my wrap because my loom was already in place and used metal cables ties from Screwfix, they have caused me no problems so far and are cheap :)

Aha, thanks mate, i have been neglecting the car slightly the last few weeks, havent really used it, will be aiming to fix the loom this weekend, and finding out why the car is only boosting at 1.5 bar at the moment!

samcowrx 17 August 2009 09:51 PM

Hi all, back to my scoob now then!, Bob Rawle tested my ecu, its fine, car is still not boosting correctly, and ive got a knocking on the front end, also need a new uprated clitch!, found the high idle problem out to be a blown fuse!

green fast machine 17 August 2009 10:07 PM

looking good there but

got a 20g wagon myself too

samcowrx 17 August 2009 10:13 PM

RS2 JIM 18 August 2009 09:23 PM

Just read your thread. The trials and tribulations of a big wagon build!! Well done for seeing it through.

I'm another wagon fan! :D

trails 18 August 2009 09:51 PM

Sam, got your PM will ring you tomorrow :)

samcowrx 19 August 2009 09:06 PM

Thanks guys, i was seriously close to just giving up monday morning and going back to a S/C VR6!!!.
Anyway here i am, thanks trails its appreciated.
Starting stripiing the car down a bit today, a few problems linger, there is still a boost problem but i think it will be sorted this week, even though i dont know what the problem is yet!, there is a sort of knocking or rubbing from the front end, done the obvious checks and found nothing so i am going to strip down a caliper and check the disc.

Lubbly Jubbly!, car back boosting at 1.5 bar, and full strong power!, just need to sort weird knocking at front end, then bit of tlc over the whole car, and we are getting there!

samcowrx 02 October 2009 06:32 PM

The knocking was a warped disc, thats sorted now!
