F Reg Polo 1.0l "twist".

Owned by some old lady, have 42k miles on it and looked like new. After 10months of me owning it it had 106k miles on it, and frankly looked ready for the scrappy.

got what I paid for it though and didnt cost me a bean to repair tyres ect only.

Sold it and bought my dads 405 mi16 LM. at 18 Jesus 2k that cost me to insure, Had that till I was 21, Crazy thing was I was more reckless in the Polo than the mi16.

Not so reckless now except the run in with the police chopper on Friday gulp.

Nissan Micra - 1996 - N reg, bought in 1997.

What a fantastic thread!

Passed test in 1987 @ 17 and inherited my mothers pristine mars red VW Polo N (76 - R reg) which was a trim level so basic that there wasn't a rear wash/wipe, passenger door mirror, rear shelf or even a water temp guage let alone a clock or rev counter!

It had 2 throttle positions - off or on and I drove everywhere absolutely flat out. It was 895cc of pure German muscle, and could easily burn off my mates 1.1 Fiasco Popular Plus which was the main thing...

An old X-reg Lancia Delta 1500. Loved it to bits. A "bit" of rust on the bodywork but the rest was sound. Eventually it got nicked when it was off the road waiting for the bumper to be repaired. Cost me £350 to buy and about £900 to insure - ended up having to put it on my Dad's insurance!

Always thought I would move on to an Integrale after that, but the Scoob came along......

Red Ford Capri 1.6LS!! :D

Still one of the finest automobiles I've ever had the pleasure of driving :D

Avi 16 July 2003 07:50 PM

My Capri was a 1.6, serious sideways fun, but only if wearing slicks and on black ice ;):D

Morris Marina 1.8HL TC metallic green with brown vinyl roof. Nice.

It was quite quick with the twin carb - used to give a few people a surprise. Bought it because my mate said it sounded beefy :D

Aweful round corners though

Hillman Imp, great wee car, cost £50 with six months MOT. MOT ran out and Third gear went, so swapped it for a skateboard ;-) Ended up with another one a few years later. Not as nippy as my Elise but fuel consumption was a tiny bit better.

Metro 1.3 for 3 days. I then got a Volvo 480 I was 19 and the insurance was well over the £2000 mark. Own a 480 Turbo now.

MK1 Escort "what will breka today?" RS Turbo...

Hillman Imp. Actually not a bad car at the time. Had a few problems here and there (needed sills welding, replaced clutch, kingpins, steering column , fascia, steering wheel, added door pockets). Sold it for more than I paid for it after about 18 months of ownership.
Ah, memories....
