"mark I am away in USA for 2 weeks with limited access in meantime, have a look at this and let people know..! http://www.mrtrally.com.au/performance/wrxbook.htm MRT Updates Successful Tuning Book "You've Got the Car , Now Buy the Book!" In 1999, MRT Performance were proud to publish the first book for performance tuning of the Subaru WRX. Training WRX is an easy to read, humorously-written book on performance tuning for the WRX. Information is provided on simple tasks such as checking oil and water, and complete explanations of how a turbo works and why an up-rated exhaust makes the car better! While other books offer simple copies of Subaru PR sheets and limited data, there is no known competitor with specific, proven recommendations for WRX performance tuning. This has proved very successful and MRT Performance has sold thousands of copies in Australia and around the world. TRAINING WRX SECOND EDITION (TW2) For the last 12 months we have been working hard on the second edition. Radically updated, TW2 includes the new Version VII, GD chassis vehicle and all the developments in tuning products since the previous edition. It specifically covers the North American version. How Extensive is this Book? All the new codes and chassis data for the old and new models; Over 300 pages and more than 300 photographs; A4 / Quarto Size (approx 280 x 205mm) "Perfect bound" like a regular book Semi Hard gloss full color cover 63,000 words More than 20 chapters with incredibly detailed information. A lot of the book is dedicated to the turbo model, however ANY Impreza owner will gain a benefit from its information. From suspension tuning to body enhancements, right thru to info on gearbox parts and engine components. Some time in the future we MAY be able to offer books like this in PDF downloadable form and at a "charge per chapter" cost basis. If this would be of interest to you, send us an email and let us know your thoughts." I bought the first edition book which covered the standard turbo which was actually very good giving details of ECU reset, tuning advice etc etc... I'll order the second book, so if anyone wants a look after me, let me know and we could 'post it around' Mark |
Oi Fat Boy - imitation is the sincerest form of flattery:D
Not saying my car's better than yours, I just want something as quick;);) :D:D :p:p |
And sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, but , hey, you've got to know your audience:D Comment not aimed at you anyway, for once, but at all the apple and pear comparers. 5hit, I hate it when I'm forced to be nice to you:D:D

Still reckon Sti 7 gives less smiles and less ROAR! Unless the PPP is awesome i won't be getting rid of the P1, took the salesman (Sti7 demo ride) out in the P1 after to show him why i wasn't buying. STi doesn't FEEL as quick or make ME feel like i am INVOLVED. The car does too much for you.
As someone else said i might buy a fully modded Sti7 of you lot in a couple years ;) |

Thanks for your very helpful comments regarding tyres for the new Sti. VFG |
Mark
We fully decatted Carolyn's car (including up pipe - no cat in here on a STi but it is sleeved down inside about 5mm with an expansion joint). Unfortunately it was then spiking to 1.7 bar (25psi) - went like a rocket but I had serious concerns for the life of the engine. I have selectively put bits of the OEM exhaust system back on to try and cure this and as of tomorrow it will be back to standard. I know some people have cured the spiking but I don't want to spend our time as part of the development process and will wait until some tried and fully tested remedies are in place. I personally think the Unichip/Dawes device/restrictors or whatever route is not for me - that just intruduces too many question marks into the equation. That is not criticising anybody that has gone this route, it's just not for me. I would agree P1 beating performance is the aim (I have many acquaintances with P1's :D ) and that at least 300bhp is necessary to offset the extra weight etc. For me, the PPP has to be the way to go. Pop down to your local Subaru dealer, fit and forget, warranty friendly, and the resources of Prodrive behind it. Rumoured to give an easy 300bhp. Boring, I know, but personally the way to go. JRdeli NOS is an option - but it isn't there all the time. PPP will probably give nearly as good performance and that performance is available 100% of the time. Phil I would recommend getting your geometry checked for peace of mind, but a tyre change would also benefit! [Edited by Dave T-S - 4/6/2002 3:08:40 PM] |
Edited cos I can't read..... :D

P1 enthusiast -
I think you are right. Four doors, very easy for the kids etc. I have a P1 as well, just for those single moments. :D:D [Edited by russell hayward - 4/5/2002 8:53:51 PM] |
To be honest I am really happy with my classic RA scoob and if 1200kgs and 276bhp isnt enough to keep up with a 1400+kgs STi7 with 265bhp then I guess I will have to learn to live with it ;). Actually an MY03 STI maybe on my shopping list ;).
