Guys, the P1 engine weakness thing has been done to death. :)

Prominent mappers on here have said that the P1 was basically running a slightly modified Sti V5 map, which is 'borderline ok' on SUL. However, get a duff batch, use 95RON etc or keep the car at prolonged high speeds, where inlet temps rise and det sets in...........well you know the rest.

There is nothing wrong with the engines per se in the same way that there is nowt wrong with the Sti V5 engine, the maps just need to be optimised for UKs poorer grade fuel.

A properly remapped P1 will be every bit as reliable as another other UK scooby!
