I dont "loan" money to DHSS chavs.

MY God some of you guys need to wake up. Cheap wrx''s are the new fiesta xr2. cheap and driven by neds.

A Boxster is a class car. trouble is most of you dress so bad you would look as if youve stolen the thing if you drove it.

GC8 28 January 2007 07:56 PM

Dont include me in that generalisation. Im better dressed than all of you!

:)

Seamaster 28 January 2007 08:09 PM

But of course..

The Chief 29 January 2007 01:16 PM

Anyone that says a Boxster is slow is talking out of their rear i'm afraid - either that or they own a collection of supercars in their garage.:D

My buddies 2.5 does not feel that slow although i admit you do have to rev it a bit.

Even the 2.5 is about as quick as a standard WRX (new age) and certainly as quick as S3's TT's Etc.

The 'S' is a whole different ball park i.e. 6 speed box, loads more torque. almost as much performance as an STI PPP.

The new Boxster is even better, the S with the 3.4 Caymen engine does 0-60 in around 5 seconds so not to be sniffed at.

handling in the dry and outright grip is better than my scoob by quite a margin and i have to give mine some to pull away (MY99 270ish bhp)

A poor relation to the 911 maybe but a slow car - not a chance:thumb:

If i could afford it i'd swap my Scooby tommorrow for an 'S'

Ive seen so many of these nackered WRX'x with a road kill body work by Rippoff speed driven by neds all wanting to be gangsters listening to 100000000000000000000 watt made in pakistan Speakers, with the tinted windows rolled down so the girls that ming can see them. Ripping away from the traffic ligts etc . yet get them into traffic and they get all confused and the MCB's in their brains start to trip. They think its cool to blast from one point tpo another inand out causing mayhem. I did the North circ on a friday from Ikea to Southgate. I won easly. why. better control of my car and more thought about my route through the traffic. Also as I was "Stealth" (ie causing no offence to other drivers etc) I was getting past traffic easly. where as the wrx was pissing everyone off and people where doing there best to slow it down.

brains wins every day.

do you actually believe this s**t you write ," trying their best to slow it down ", i mean get a grip mate !

Sorry to break this up a bit fellas, but what about a Carrera? What are the specs like for one of those? It looks like a bog standard one, nothing fancy.

A neighbour of mine has one ( Company Car ) and it sounds like a bag of spanners whenever she gives it large going to work. She does it every morning, and it sounds horrible if im being honest - as though it needs to be pushed into the higher rev bracket.

Nice classy looking car though.

Going back to your original question - yep Boxstera are not slow and top speed it will kick your ass tbh.

however if your mate has a 2.5 or a 2.7 and your car is modded you should be able to pull at least a few car lengths.

My buddy has tried a few times and the only time he has pulled away is when i've let mine bog down - i normally have the edge.

Threads like this and the current scene giving others a bad impression of the car make me unfortunately want to sell my RB5.

It's pathetic.

I've had two scoobies (one currently), a boxster S (which I might add was superb) and a 996 carrera (current) and I get fed up with w4nkers who've just learned to shave trying to burn my Porsche off (with a pimped up scooby) or my scooby off (with a pimped up vauxhall or ford).

Hence, I tend to go the other way or let you lot disappear off ahead when faced with the choice of 'racing', it's much better.

Racing simply being a 'term' i do not personally race on the road, however we have all as i'm sure you have be it in your Boxster, Scooby, Ford Asbo had a bit of fun at the traffic lights/motorway slip road etc.

dont give me i always stick to the limit and never floor it - if thats the case we might as well go out and buy a Kia:(

Calm yourself man:thumb:

i've not anything against Boxsters BTW - in fact i'm a member of Boxanet.
lovely cars but a totally different experience to a Scoob.

PGMabley 29 January 2007 03:43 PM

I always stick to 30 and 40 limits and most 50 limits depending on the actual road.

NSL however is a different story, I treat those as 'derestricted'.

Had stacks of road instruction how to drive the cars properly, quickly and safely and use a decent turn of speed where I can.

I choose not to play around with other cars I don't know, prefering to do this in a small group of known drivers.

The boxster is a superb piece of kit as is the Scooby, all I'm saying is why not have a bit of respect for another man's choice rather than slating it based on an encounter with someone who isn't known.

I know that a decent driver who has driven one would not say a boxster is crap, that sounds a little strange to me.

I never for one minute slated the Boxster, buddy has one and i love it. in fact if i could afford and 'S' i'd get one tommorrow even though it may not be as fast as my Scoob. More to life than just going fast.

by the way i'm no snot nosed kid i'm a 34yo old fart grey hair who is a member of the legendary Smacs club.

we dont allow reckless driving in our club:)

PGMabley 29 January 2007 03:58 PM

I'm not directing this at you specifically, more the OP and the majority in agreement.

I am a normal 35 year old too with thinning (not grey though) hair :)

What is the SMACS club when it's at home then?

Bought the wife's Skoda diesel on the basis it has the same torque figures as the Boxter.

Brother has just bought on 03 boxter'S'.Looks smart.Didn't offer me a spin though

The Chief 29 January 2007 04:32 PM

Another friend of mine has leased one (new shape) with a right to buy at the end of it.

with all the xtras it ended up near as damn it 40k but it has soft grey leather (this is extra apparently) and alloys of which ive never seen on a production Porker before - but it is absolutley gorgeous.:notworthy

When he called at my house all the neighbours were having a right good old nosey

Wish 29 January 2007 05:10 PM

A heroin addicts' support network... I think.

Brendan Hughes 29 January 2007 05:22 PM

I thought it was one of TelBoy's clubs?

Or was that SPANCS?

Wasn't the Boxster meant to be a better car for the money than the 'S'

No, the STI is a bit faster. Essentially the same track times as a 996 Carrera 4

I am genuinely surprised at those figures as the Boxster felt a heck of a lot better in terms of handling when I drove one, but I guess how it feels doesn't really matter, it's the figures that count. See, knew I had the right car ;) :D :D

But technically true when they are now hovering around the £9,000-£10,000 mark for early models.

StickyMicky 30 January 2007 09:59 AM

its still a big massive loan, to pretty much everybody who says it!

Andygreer 30 January 2007 10:22 AM

I wouldnt own one ever, dont liek them far too over rated, if it was a choise between a Box S and another same priced car with same speed id get a 350Z UK GT Spec.

My mate works in a body shop fixing sports cars he says the ones with the most rust are Porkys, followed by Citrens LOL........

I have to admit they look nice but just wouldnt pay the money,

you commented before that WRXs are all chav drivers, well ill let you know this isnt true, i own a 2004 Wrx and i am defo no chav, im a profesional business person whom wears a suit, i cant see how many chava or as we say up here "nakkas" can dribve a impreza as they cost so much to run, Insurance and Petrol Etc etc etc. So there LOL. You obviously must not drive a Subaru??

although it's a hackneyed phrase I believe what 'some' people are trying to say is that if you could afford a 911 would you get a Boxster?

personally I don't see them as a poor man's porsche, it's like (almost) saying that a WRX is a poor man's STi
