i'd take my chances on a county /open roads, think your less likely to take chances if you own a boxter

there not that fast, I can muff them quite easily, but saying that im 370/365, but your classic is lighter than my blob eye.

I'd say you'd beat him

unless it is a boxster s they are very disapointing in terms of speed - do handle well though

I echo what pippyrips says, however it depends on the drivers skill behind the wheel more than the car itself.

I've never "muffed" anyone !

Porsche bosters are good cars - known for their handling. Think the classic STi might "muff" it though !

The Boxster's strength is its handling. On the open road if you both know your cars and you do indeed have a classic STI I would think you will be fairly matched. If it's a Boxster S you might be left behind, but just a little.

i had a boxster at the lights in my old wrx which had 240ps at the time. saw him in my rear view mirror until about 80mph and then he caught up, so i called it a job well done lol. all on private roads of course with private traffic lights too.

Boxster's arent that fast (although newer S models arent bad), but I doubt many owners would want to be seen having a play with chavvy Subaru's off the lights, so you cant always count on them having been trying when you shoot off down the road ahead of them in a blaze of neons, chirping dump valves and window rattling bass..

Just watch he has not just got the latest 987 S. As of the start of Jan the S gets the uprated 3.4 engine... 295BHP, 340Nm. Not slow, esp once into 3rd gear and the nice low Cd takes over. 170mph top end..

A friend of mine just got one - not yet run in but he says its going to be quick.

My 03WRX with TEK II no decat est 240bhp, struggled in 40 - 100+ drag with a Boxter S.

6 months on and 320+, a standard Boxter S would not stand a chance.

I still think they are great cars though.

Why compare modded to strandard ? How would you compare to a ruff Boxster ?

i did a boxster a good while back ,i was going past one lorry overtaking another lorry on the motorway and just dawdling along at 70 ish, nothing in my rear view, look again and theres a boxster so close i couldnt see the number plate ,road ahead is clear so i go past lorry ,indicate left and drop into middle lane ,he immediately goes for it but i had cogged down to 3rd and booted it as i changed lanes ,i toe it through 3rd and 4th and pulled a couple of lengths on him
fair do's though when i slowed down and he went past he gave me the thumbs up.

The 2.5s are very slow, I'd imagine the 2.7s are slightly better but the 3.2s are probably OK. A mate is building a 3.6l one with lots of carbon fibre body parts. He reckons it'll weight about 1200kg when he's finished!

I had one for a weekend, was really impressed (before that I'd thought they weren't 'proper' porsches etc.).

Wasn't an 's', so not too fast but handled really well; got the tyres really hot just with some 'normal' spirited road driving.

I was too tall for it though.
