Yep bumper cutting is inevitable but most kits you have to cut the bumper with, nothing structural...

Here are some pic's of the mounting and the end result.
With the monster kit you will have to remove the foglight's or do something extra with sillicone hose's.
The regular one will fit easy with the foglight's

Oh my god ! Looks awesome !
Was that the monster one ?

David MY99 23 November 2003 08:27 PM

correct!

Delboy2 23 November 2003 08:30 PM

That was my next question :D as it looks as though the pipework is lower than the fogs and the end tanks don't seem to impair the foglight region suggesting it wasn't the monster version?

Delboy2 23 November 2003 08:35 PM

CataIunya/Harvey - is this the FMIC we are getting ;)

Cheers

GBruce 23 November 2003 10:26 PM

So the fogs can stay with the intercooler we would be getting. Would I be right in thinking you would also need an induction kit and some sort of aftermarket blow off valve?

Just got to decide before Friday now!

George

toxwaz 23 November 2003 10:30 PM

looks great, can sumone confirm that its chrome pipework,as sum threads say silicon hosing[if so wot colours]?? many thanx 4 sorting this!mark.

CataIunya 23 November 2003 10:31 PM

Yeah you do have to have an induction kit and bov whether we are getting the monster or not the pictures I have been sent seem to look like the one thats been fitted above....

harvey 23 November 2003 10:59 PM

Gentlemen: As I understand it the FMIC kit is the larger one, core 600x300x76 plus end tanks. I do not want to mess the potential supplier about with continual questions and at the end of this week when we know how many kits we are likely to need, I will have meaningful discussions and get as much information as possible to answer all the questions already raised. I would rather do this when we are in a position to be quite firm as to our needs so that our enquiry is dealt with seriously, so please be patient for just a little longer in line with the timescale already agreed.

Sorry guys the fog lamps have to definately go as well on the 97>99. The problem is the piping to the end tanks catch on the metal bracket that screws in the fog lamps, this will not fit when the piping is in place. Also the connectors will catch big time. If you have a front lip spolier you should be okay when cutting down the bumper, if you have no lip spolier it will not leave much protection if you hit a kerb. A lot of cutting will be required when you put the bumper back. Theres no set template. So the best way would be to shave a bit off each time and try it until it fits.

The dump valve opening is near the return to the intake, problem here no standard dump valve will fit, if i can remember right the opening is about 3inch or so. You will need a reducer hose, this will not be part of the kit. Also near the outake piping from the turbo will require a reducer again not supplied with kit.

Some of the plastic protection underneath the engine will have to cut away to make up for the piping.

HTH.

Can post pics if anyone can host them.

:D :D :D :D

Franko 24 November 2003 04:41 PM

My motors suspension is set really hard and low... seems this will effect the fitting too...?

Thanks for the info mate :)

It be great to have some pics if you want to email them to me i'll see if i can post them up :)

Goldeneye, yep same PDF file.

Goldeneye 24 November 2003 05:04 PM

Mark A: Thanks. :)

rayman_2: Given your comments about losing the fogs, I guess the same applies to the P1 driving lights, too?

rayman_2 24 November 2003 05:09 PM

If you have metal brackets on the back of the bumper where the fogs screw into , then it is definate mate.

:D :D :D :D

Goldeneye 24 November 2003 05:22 PM

Oh well! Lucky the FMIC won't be going on for some time as I've just bought some P1 driving lights, surrounds and mounting brackets (not having a P1 to begin with ;) )

Thanks rayman_2.

:)

GBruce 24 November 2003 05:35 PM

Can someone confirm what kit this is then, Bigger or Smaller?

Can someone also confirm that you loose your foglamps with either the bigger/smaller kit or both.

I am interested and will put my name down if I can keep my foglamps (MY98) as I believe this is a very good price.
If that's not the case I feel it may be better to spend more and get one that fits "properly" despite how good or efficient the Hybrid one may be. Anyway i'm sure others on here would like to know exactly what they would be getting before they commit to anything.
No offence meant, I just think it would be nice for someone to clear this up.

You guys should ask on the yahoo groups WRX group if you ar after any info on these coolers http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/wrx/
or the MRTrally forums.
From what I have heard they are very well made and I think you can now choose the material used for the piping, if you haven't already asked.
They were selling these coolers and catch cans on ebay about 1 or 2 months ago but I had a quick look and couldn't seem to find them

I would be very interested to see which country these guys ask you to send payment or whether its just to their paypal account. I have dealt with them recently and was a little pi$$ed of with their rude attitude however the product was worth it. I originally asked for two catch cans hoping to get the two items for basically 1 $18 us international delivey fee and offload the second can to a mate but they bluntly said two cans two international delivery fee (mail sent from an Aussie ISP) so I reduced the number to only one. What a surprise that the item turned up being shipped from a Sydney address by a local only courier company with a ~$4us delivery fee. I now know this is how they work keep the money off shore in a paypal account and ship from a local address - Cool Tax dodge. Now if only i could do that........
\Rant mode off

having said that though I have never heard of anyone being unsatisfied with the product

regards

Mark
