I've been asking around to see what the guys over here have to say
about the Hybrid with two responses so far (see below). Think I've even got some pics as well somewhere
The real weapon of choice over here is the Hyperflow unit manufactured in Wollongong South of Sydney. Have you guys considered these units ?? perhaps they price differential is quite significant anyway I could perhaps chase up something as I think Kevin (owner) is a member of the NSW WRX club over here....
Hell I might even be interested in one myself : )
Have a look at Hyperflow.com.au (site is down at the moment though, think its being updated)
Two responses so far-see below , I'll post more for you guys if anymore turn up

I've heard they're not the best, I believe they are actually made in
China. If your serious about coolers don't go past the Name Brands.
You can't go past this Brent from www.nengun.com. He exports direct from
Japan, don't worry he is highly recommended, he supplies all of us at
the Skylines Forum www.skylinesaustralia.com
Tell him Simon "meshmesh" from SAU referred you, I currently have around
4-5K order with him.
The website is www.nengun.com
PS: If something is not listed on his site, tell hime what your after &
he'll get it.
I don't say this lightly... But TRUST me he's the cheapest & he's an
OZZIE (so he must be a good bloke) living in japan.
Good Luck

"I haven't seen the WRX Hybrid hit, but the Nissan 200sx (S15) kits that I know of weren't the best fitting or quality (and also have a big as stamp painted on the front of them). But as I said.. I haven't personally seen the WRX kit to see if its any better.
I know Kevin from Hyperflow well and can get a price on their kits if you like? I have their kit on my WRX and kitted exactly with no modification to anything apart from cutting only plastic. (no metal needs to be cut). you also get every bolt/nut and the air cleaner with the kit so the is no need to purchase anything else for the install.
let me know and I will find out for you if you like. I know they have just had a delivery of a huge amount of cores.
Just as a side note.. all the MRT and the TurboXS intercoolers are made by Hyperflow. (MRT make their own pipes while Hyperflow provide them with the core and end tanks only)
hope this helps.
cheers.

Gentlemen: I have just had a positive response from HK. The group buy is up and running as follows:
The price is 708$ U.S., delivered to your door, within Western /Northern Europe. Within the U.K. budget for 19.8% vat and duty but I expect our supplier will ensure this is kept to a minimum.
Delivery is by air freight.
To be in the group buy, I must receive from you a cheque for £100stg as a part payment and commitment. Non refundable. All cheques MUST be in my possession not later than first post Wednesday 10 December. Along with the cheque you must give the following information on a sheet of A4 paper:
Your full name.
S/Net name.
Delivery address.
Your e-mail address.
Your contact phone number.
When you intend to pay the balance and request delivery. ie. Immediate, Late December, Early January, Late January, Early February, Late February.
I regret there are only two methods of payment of the balance. By bank transfer (T.T.) direct to the supplier or Pay Pal.
For non UK participants, please e-mail to me the information requested above. I will give you my bank details so you can transfer £100 stg to me direct. As I am away from base for a few days and incomunicado, it may take me until Sunday to respond but do not worry as you will not loose out.
Once funds are cleared in my bank, I will TT £100 x number of participants to the supplier in Hong Kong who wants payment in $ U.S. The supplier then confirms receipt of funds and the actual $U.S. balance per intercooler is confirmed. All participants pay their balances direct to Hong Kong and request delivery to suit themselves as outlined above.
Please bear in mind that there will be currency fluctuations during the course of the group buy.
I have used my best endeavours to bring this to fruition but everyone proceeds with their eyes open. I can accept no liability or responsibility for any thing other than the safe conduct of the initial £100 commitment payment.
I would like to thank Mark and Steve who were responsible for starting this and without their assistance we would not have got this far.
Regards,
Harvey Smith.

Hi all,
You have probably seen the other thread regarding this need 10 people to go ahead with a price $680 which equates to about £513....Heres a little info from the company:
we have been in business since 1994 and that time we had the fastest 200 sx
in Australia (according FAST 4's magazine), since then we become well know
in Nissan tuning, at that time we import Trust and FET products , in 1996 we
built the first turbo charger civic and in sydney with fist ihi ball bearing
turbocharger and apexi electronics. as the technology advanced we started
to develop custom kits for the local market.
our Australian development center has equipped dynopack dyno turbo dynamic
balancer CNC machining facility for our own products testing in other words
all our products have to be tested before they go to the market. in 2002 we
started exproting our products to asia and the branch hybrid development
(HK) co was established. we are negotiating a join venture in Japan for
next year.
u can also check our sister site www.powerdigger.com
please see attached magazine ad if any question u can now call 852 26337166
for more details
Anyway we shall arrange this for after xmas but get it off the ground ASAP.

Justhad a look on the power digger site and it says that the Kit is $1560
Is the price of $680 for the core only ?
or is it the complete kit.
If its the kit its a steal at less than half price
Have i missed some thing.

I'm a newby to moding..
Roughly how much of a difference to BHP would an FMIC make?
and does this FMIC come with the hard piping or the soft rubbery piping?
Would i need a remap?
Would it fit an MY98 Sti import?
Any advice mucho appreciated

OK no worries I will start a list later because I think Harvey is going to post something very interesting and helpful soon.
Franko at this price if you are planning to mod further it may well be worth getting one now at this price, mines not going on for a while till I have sorted out the accompanying mods...

I've been pondering a lot about joining this group buy as the FMIC seems a great price!
Do you have to cut the front bumper up or will it squeeze in without any mod's! If there is no cutting then count me in!!
Cheers
Dom.

Harvey posted this on the other thread:
OK. To move this forward I have had discussions with Mark A. and e-mails with Catalunya and hope to speak to him later in the day.
I propose to order five, ten or whatever quantity we agree on and pay up front with shipping as a sigle batch to my address. This way we do not mess the supplier about, there is less work for him, we should get a keen price and the shipping cost is kept to a minimum. I will then send out each individual intercooler once I have received payment. A rough estimate of U.K. distribution cost is £15ish per unit.
I will need a commitment of £100 from everybody to be in on the buy but the balance can be paid anytime up to say, first week of February. Obviusly anyone wanting their FMIC as soon as they arrive can have it straight away.
So that this does not become protracted I suggest that anyone wanting one of these FMICs puts their name on the list below with a cut off date of Friday 28 November.
A close price will be confirmed at that time. The price will only fluctuate due to exchange rate movements and the actual duty charged on import as compared to the best estimate at the time.
Latest date for receipt of deposit cheques of £100 each will be Friday 5 December and at that point the order will be placed.
So if you want one of these Hybrid Front Mount Intercoolers please add your name and contact details:

So boys lets get definites in now.......

CataIunya, did you receive my e-mail?
I'd like to be in, but is it problem that I'm from Finland?
I tried to mail to Harvey, but something's not working.

I think Harvey wants your name and contact details, can you confirm Harvey ? I can't check my E-mail through the day as I left my e-mail client running at home and it snags all the new mails....

I've just realised why my e-mail to Harvey wasn't accepted. I'd copied his address from the one stated on the post and hadn't spotted that the end bit says, "openwold" instead of "openworld"
