He put the VF23 on later in the season (having melted the TD04) as we were comparing dyno plots in the car park afterwards - he said it was a TD04 and denied adjusting the actuator. It only gave him 250 BHP and the boost would not hold like it would with a VF23 anyway.

No problem John, I remember he changed at some point to the 23.

(having melted the TD04)
Good reason to run at 1.7 bar then...

Alan

touch of mid-range boost

My engine was a closed deck, cossie pistons, uprated conrods, etc. etc. and the best bit was a BT270 turbo :p

I was running close to 3 thou clearance, and never really had too much problem with oil consumption. The oil issue never really was a problem, the times I used oil was on track, but then again high boost (1.6bar held) you would expect some blow by.

The engine did close to 25k miles as a daily runner, when either a ring land collapsed, or a spark plug tip melted/fell off. I was running some plugs that where hotter than I should have been running. I used to check the oil about once every two weeks to a month, never needed to put much in at all.

I am now having it rebuilt, then it shall be up for sale.

Dan
