Green Line : Average CPU load 1.5% Peak CPU load 18% Red Line: Average Network traffic 25k/sec Peak Network traffic 88k/sec Server didn't really bat an eyelid http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif Raising the cache from 4Mb to 32Mb (I need an unreal admin course http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif ) got rid of the lag at the beginning of a game. Cheers all. Next wednesday anyone ? [This message has been edited by Lee (edited 10 January 2001).] |
Hi Lee
Thanks for that -- it was lots of fun. I need LOTS of practice though! Steve "Toyota_Supra_TT" |
Lee,
what time do you think you cured the lag? My was awful till about 9.30 when I had to drop out. It was very very choppy it may have been the PC I was having to use. Will have to rebuild my netpc to 98SE to allow me to use internet sharing, Im just hoping that it doesnt increase lag! at least I would have a decent mouse, and sound! Liked the first CTF, got either 2 or 3 of the flags for the red team it was a good night robski |

What name were you using ? Lee Where is the server located ? - Is there a best ISP to dial into to be as close to the server as possible network wise .... After I got bored of being killed every thirty seconds - I spectated for a while .... Very instructive....I have a lot of practice to do http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif I did get a flag though..And fragged a few people when they were silly enough to stand around chatting about server caches in the middle of Deathmatch http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif Dean |
sorry i missed it
sounds like u all had fun. i'll be around next week though. |
Hiya,
I was duane dibley last night (aka cannon fodder) Ive got to sort that lag out tho, it was virtually unplayable at my end was a good night, looking forward to next week robski |
Lag at the start of each level was bad, but it sounds like you got it sorted.
Had a couple of games (read: got shown up! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif ) before the 'phone started playing up. I noticed that most people had pings in the 40-60 range, I guess I'd better sort out a cable solution at home!! Cheers for setting it up Lee, I will try to join in again in the future. |
Hiya all
although increasing cache sizes seemed to do the trick with the lag I did some searching this morning and surprise surprise - there is a known issue with UT running on Win2K. |
Good fun last night.
Lag was terrible for the first few minutes of the level but then my ping was around 60ms (not too bad for dial-up ISDN on BT Internet Free). I'll be there next week! Chris. I didn't notice too much lag, apart from one one level at the start. Mind you, that was my first ever attempt at playing on-line, and I've not played the game for about 2 hours in total.
I too was complete connon fodder, and it wasn't until the end of my session that I found out you could jump, which made a bit of a difference on the "Morpheus" scenario (I think I "fell a long way" about a dozen times!). Great fun though, and I'll be back for more next week http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif |
I can see you playing but I can't join http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif
Demo version - no good. Version 400 - no good. But my proper version should be arriving Thursday or Friday which I can upgrade to version 436. Lee, any chance you could bring the server up most evenings ? Looking forward to the killing. Kevin. |
so, do we start a new thread for each week?
robski |
Dam!..i`ve missed something here http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif
i`ll be up for a bash, i`ve looked through this thread, but i carnt see no i.p. or password for the server http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif Wednesday sounds good for me!! |
The answer is out there (cue spooky x-files music)...
Actually on page one towards the bottom Server and password are in Lee's replies. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif |
