Yes it the MTBE in some race fuels that swell the seals changing the flow rates eek.

I have run race fuel with MTBE on the 1000 and they are fine :)

I believe Mikee and Steve at SMG have both had problems with the 2000's

I wonder why they think it’s a good idea to use different seals🤔 surely they know about the problem so why not fix it rather than loose out on so much custom.

race fuel customers would be a tiny percentage of their customer base -E85 is king in the states:confused: beautiful build very nice:thumb:

Thanks for all the nice comments on my engine build, Paul finch has been absolutely brilliant throughout, would recommend him to anyone wanting the best.

i fitted a owen development gt35 turbo same as Josef and yours dave in my old car, (paulgtt’s new car.) on a 2.1 made good power but the injectors limited the power and boost. this is the graph i had of bob rawle. my head had little work no porting just work done in the chamber. regarding fitment the 3 1/2 inch pipe is a pig to fit under a standard inlet.

after some cutting to the block and box

I have an rotated spec c inlet n I can see it’s still going to be a pig. Think Simon is going to do it as he knows exactly what needs to be done

Sure am, they look like they fit miles better than other offerings

when do you hope to get the car done?

daveriley123 17 March 2018 06:05 PM

Realistically 2 months depending on how soon Simon can fit me in then I need to fit the fuel system n get it mapped.

The only thing that is playing with me is that fact I need to chop away at a 14k engine to get it in. If for any reason I wanted to sell it on down the line I’m sure it would put people off.

lol, i see now ! not really stock fit ? im sure itll be worth it though if it does high 500,s and maybe 600 with good spool up

daveriley123 17 March 2018 09:54 PM

I know it will but it’s been a long time n I just want it finished. Too many things to do n not enough time. Should see 650 on v power n 750 on race fuel. Engine is capable of 2.5 bar of boost but will be running 2 max

those in the know won't be put off. I know what you mean about grinding chunk off a brand new block. I had to shave an ej207 to fit a baby mdx.

Scary **** isn’t it...

domino46 18 March 2018 08:10 AM

my forced performance turbo wasn't that hard to fit to be honest ,, had to remove a tiny part of the block but nothing major ,, there 84mm intake was fairly easy to fit and didn't even need to remove the inlet manifold to fit it ,, not sure how there bigger one fit though as mine is one of there smaller ones lol

clyne 08 18 March 2018 10:29 AM

I had the same oil line issue with my tiny VF30 :lol1: as I had the housing rotated whilst having it rebuilt, I used the racing lines kit but reconfigured it, had to shave some bits also.

rickybobby 18 March 2018 04:13 PM

I used the racing lines kit above, gave a lot of flexibility so that things fitted right. Had to shave part of the bellhousing like most people have when fitting a larger aftermarket turbo.
