Yet another boring diatribe from the self satisfied, smug, entrenched position,small-minded fundamentalists who revel in being holier-than-though...

It's a good wish, but I think the wish for any boring diatribester is being fulfilled because people attend to his/her diatribe, join in and argue the subject in length; over and over- like a broken record.

So, my question is: Why can't people just ignore such religion and God related diatribe, NOT join such nonsense discussion, and do something what they believe is much better? Life is short and all that and the clock is ticking. Are religion/God related posts/discussions worth their time, if they bore them so chronic?

I'd ask any of YOU wound up customers (as opposed to the wind up merchants) to answer this question, not asking any Jesus, alike or any of Jesus's wannabe.

I'm confused? You're taking scientifically proven facts and comparing them with with the unproven and totally unprovable existence of a person born 2000+ years ago. It is more likely to be true than untrue that Jesus existed but nowhere near as certain as, say, Caesar Augustus, a contemporary.

ok I did preface my post with pedantry

scientists have a saying "proof" is for mathematics and alcohol

there is no concept of proof (in the way it is commonly used) in science or the scientific method

science, like interpreting history and historical facts is about evidence

all I am saying is there is some evidence of Jesus as an historical figure

there will not be as much evidence for Jesus as say Caesar Augustus because he was a roman emperor - so it is sort of obvious

no one can "prove" Caesar Augustus existed - they just point to the overwhelming preponderance of evidence from multiple lines of evidence

just like in 2000 years there will be more evidence that Justin Bieber existed than you or me

holocaust deniers will talk about there being no "proof" of 6 million Jews dying, they too confuse evidence with "Proof"

OK, but what if we have ourselves cryogenically frozen after death? (Or in Bieber's case, some might even suggest not to wait that long ;))

David

No, but then I wouldn't tell my nan this joke either .. to be fair I didn't tell anyone I posted what someone else said and again to be fair the concept I find funny has nothing to do with religion, it is the expectation of some profound question, followed by a childish and very funny comment.

The fact that someone religious might be so far up their own arse that they find this offence make it brilliant.

Should you wish to mock me for not believing I'd laugh at that too .. well probably not from you, I can't imagine you've ever said anything funny :hjtwofing

Well I'd feel ashamed if I ever posted something as tasteless, childish and unfunny as the stuff that seems to appeal to you and others here.

And why do you continue to insult me? You're as bad as that kid on here who is a world expert on changing hospital light bulbs (forgotten his name). Just assumes that no one else is entitled to express an opinion. I may be wrong but just slinging insults is pathetic.

This might amuse you "One sister to her older sister - stop being so grumpy just because it's your time of the month. Older sister "how do you know that"

So what is younger sister's reply?? It's too obscene to post on here.......

Oh so you ARE an expert?

Or do you just know what you read in the papers? Maybe if you worked in the industry you may have some backing to the usual bollocks you spout.

Considering I actually work within the system and carry out the work for them, I would say I am far better placed to offer what is not an opinion, but actual fact. Maybe you are unable to tell the difference between these two very basic concepts?

I wont hold it against you, your mind is clearly taken up with far more important issues such as wether you should tip your slaves to move house for you, what to have for tea tonight and how best to cook your turkey, wether your coffee is better out of a dolce gusto or some other branded machine, and wether sky can be wireless....

I know google is a difficult tool, but the local library offer classes for senile old cnuts like you to try help out ... They are free too!

Just more insults - is that really all you have to offer? And you can't even spell c,unt correctly

And let me confirm - I an not claiming to be an expert on changing light bulbs in hospitals, it needs proper experts like you, in the industry, to handle these complex technical tasks. When I was a Director of a Facilities Management company we left these sorts of things to what I would call the working classes.

And what is wrong with me asking about day-to-day things?

Thanks so much for the Google tip - i'll see if I can find them. I've only been using computers for 25 years so odd that I haven't come across Google before :Whatever_

oh so you are an elitist? I dont do light bulbs, we have a TEAM for that, a valued and respected part of the workforce. Im not sure you would understand what I do...

Maybe that is why you WERE in facilities managment, I cant imagine you been very successful with that kind of attitude to the people who kept you employed.... There is no need for a director when there is no one to go out and make the money for your wages... :thumb:

It doesnt look like you can spell it correctly either. Your grammar is apalling, since when did it need a comma....?!

:lol1: you viewed my thread, didn't like my post so insulted me by questioning my age, my "insult" back suggests you're not funny, I do love the irony.

My opinion is that the joke is funny and strangely enough I'm entitled to have that opinion even if you don't.

Feel free to be ashamed for me and pray for my soul if you must, but I'm quite happy to laugh and not take life too seriously.

It's what Jebus would have wanted.

Now this particular image shows examples of common early Sumerian words but there were several other pictographic languages (early Egyptian for example) in use before/after the events of the bible.

There was little writing in the time of Jesus, certainly practically none among the general populace. It's accepted by scholars that a simple oral tradition existed at that time, also that virtually nothing was written about Jesus until around 70 AD. By then these were compilations from memories and tales rather than from personal experience. For instance Paul himself never met Jesus.
These writings were then 'adjusted' by the early church and it's highly likely that most of the supposed words of Jesus were further cleaned up and tweaked to appeal to believers. Since then the New Testament has been re-interpreted and re-written so many times that it is unlikely to record in any way what happened or was said.

FAO Mr. D. Lock:

David, I also took the notice of the obscene contents of the joke in the opening post, and thought: why do the non-believers have to mock the Christ (and his believers) in such low level ways?? Then I became mindful of the type of crowd that inundates this place. The best option was not to object but let them play among themselves; with the kind of play they like.

IMO your questions about wireless Sky, Netflix etc. are all very reasonable, and as far as I remember, you indeed have posted some spontaneous light-hearted material here. The quality of your light-hearted material undeniably differs from the material in the opening post. I also know that your purpose to post on Scoobynet isn't just to clown about and post the gutter level humour.

You're a worthy poster. Easy. :)
