The vocalness never leaves them, even when they are older they command attention when it pleases them. You'll be surprised how clever these things are TBH.

Never heard of them, sound pretty cool.

I used to have Silver Sharks and Iridescent Sharks and they were like bullets when they got spooked.

My British Blue cat hated my Maine Coons, it got to the point she was pissing on the carpet so we had to let her go, it was kinda sad really as she was here first.

When they were all around 10lbs it was ok, she'd kick their asses (that's why the yanks created the muscular American Shorthair to help hunt on farms) but as they surpassed her in weight and size they'd pin her down and stress her.

Our biggest cat is now 22lbs and tbh it'd be cruel put it with a moggy, though people still do. :nono:

We have a 3 yr old Bengal cat and as much as we love her we want to strangle the bloody thing! Our cat seems to be nocturnal and likes to go bat sh1t crazy almost every night whilst we are trying to sleep... It also constantly meows and stalks around the house looking to f*ck sh1t up which it does on a regular basis!


In hindsight We should have just got a tabby from the pet shop...

She's bored and want's attention, don't let her sleep during the day. I had a similar problem with my dog so starved him of sleep during the day and tired him out playing of an evening then feed him after, sleeps through the night unless someone comes or the wild boar start roaming by, then all hell breaks lose.:lol1:

Frankly, cats don't have to be Bengal or Coonies etc. We have plenty of good cats in Britain from regular breeds. They're just amazing animals, whatever breed. Personally, the wilder they are e.g. Serval descents and Bengal ones, the distant they are to my human nature. If I wanted to live among wild tendencies, I'd live in a jungle. But I'm not that way inclined. I like civilised cats. My tabby and moggy give me plenty of affection and joy. I don't need Bengal or a fluffy Maine Coon to get that. If I had them, I'd still love them, like! But I don't think moggies and tabbies are any inferior than so-called posh breeds. One of you up there got rid of your already existing common cat and homed a new Bengal. That's harsh imo. Cats are territorial, and you uprooted your pre-existing cat from her home. As I say- harsh. Anyway, I hope the new owners of your tab/mog were alright.

Worse thing about Maine Coons are the frigging knots. It's an endless battle. Especially around their ass.

Our female MC has also gone to town on two of our wooden doors too.

I've read that Pedigrees have a better temperament but also that they don't live as long :(

Your fat lad is beautiful. If you shrink him and get him a grade 0 hair cut all over (his bushy tail included), he looks just like my little Ms. Coco the tabby. I don't mean that you should do that. He actually looks quite cuddly as a fatty. :luvlove:

Your cats are adorable, Jasey. All cats are, really. They simply are. Well, apart from those skinny Siamese ones. That's another breed that people would have as a status symbol. That breed offers nothing but a skeleton that scurries away from you and makes strange noises. You hardly get any affection from that thing. A couple of Siamese from my neighbourhood are always growling and forcefully invading my cats' territory. One day my cats will lose it and beat the sh7t out of them. :mad: I tried to be friendly to those undernourished looking cats, but they just run away! Honestly, some cats! :rolleyes:

This is Lady Coco. She came from Southend-on-Sea, although there’s no sea there. She’s 10 yrs. old timid and defensive cat. She got run over on Father’s Day last year and broke her pelvis at three places. We were told by the vet that she wouldn’t survive. I looked after her for 8 weeks like a baby, drained her bladder, fed her tuna, salmon and water with spoon and changed her incontinent pads during those two very depressing months. As a result, she has made full recovery despite me thinking that even if she survived, she would be disabled all her life. Since her recovery she has been climbing high trees and fences, and you can’t make out if she was ever so badly mangled>

This one is a Liverpudlian cat called Lord Rubix. He was known as Slash to begin with, but we changed his name to a pleasant but enigmatic one. He looks tiddy in this pic, but he’s quite a big fat cat, actually. He’s very cuddly, confident and a sociable cat. When he comes in, he brushes against me with all his weight, as if to say- “Move! I’m entering my pad!” Once he has nested somewhere, it’s not easy to move him, as he stubbornly remains there. You have to literally lift him in his curled state to place him elsewhere. He’s a good hunter but sometimes he gets stuck on high trees. Then my whole colony comes out with ladders and treats for him to get him down. He has huge paws and his tummy moves from side to side when he lords about all over the place. We got it of an SN member called Big G. We are forever thankful to him for giving us this bundle of joy>

I met a one yr. old tabby the other day at a friend’s place. He had some weird name; just like their own children’s. That naughty youngster was pulling my hair loads. He also had a play fight with my hands. He has very similar temperament to our Lord Rubix.

After all 3 of ours were spayed they were jumping all over and up onto window ledges, just couldn't see a woman being so energetic after an hysterectomy!

RS_Matt, after her accident she couldn't wee or a poo for a long time. Vet had already said to us that we needed to get her put to final sleep, but I could see life in her eyes. I wanted to bring her back and look after her. So he taught us how to press her tummy at certain area to drain her bladder, because it was important that she passed water. Her face was also hit, so she couldn't really eat or drink much, but even then. Slowly, slowly she healed and started to get some strength back. I remember how she used to try to stand, and would fall again. She could hardly walk. Walked with a limp for a long time, even after 8 weeks' rest in a nursing cage. It was a very sad time, and I'm happy that she's not just alive but has made full recovery. Now she's back to her old self. If you look at her actions now, you can't even say that she ever had such a horrific accident. These little creatures sometimes make miraculous recovery. Absolutely amazing.

They're much harder than humans, RS_Matt. Our Lord Rubix was chilled after his furry balls were chopped off. Imagine a human male getting his balls chopped off and climbing a tree within an hour; post-procedure? I can't imagine that.

Lol, I'm not sure about our two males, they were both lazy gits before and after.

Just a couple of points to add for the OP to consider.
I will assume that the kitten came from a reputable and GCCF registered breeder. It should have all the paperwork etc but will also have the four weeks free insurance from the Agria/GCCF scheme. When this expires it is vital that pet insurance is renewed (your choice of provider) as the first twelve months is when most medical problems will arise.
We also own/run a boarding cattery and have six Bengals as regular visitors. The OP mentioned fish ! Bengals LOVE water. Every one that comes to us will throw the water bowl around and two will actually stand in a large bowl of water to drink. So don't be surprised to see it being interested in the fish tank, it might well become a hunter but will most certainly like the water to splash a paw in.

Not sure if it's just a Maine Coon thing but ours paw water out of the drinking bowl until the floor is flooded.

No paperwork yet , we have to wait until she's been to the vets before we can have her papers . We didn't buy her to breed anyway so that's not a problem.
At this moment she's unsure (curious) of water....plays on the front of the tank as it's behind a corner sofa so she has a ledge to sit on!, she also sits on the side of the bath whilst my missis is in it (better not post a pic of that one).
So far so good.....sleeps all night , meows the god damn house down when nobody plays or she's after food!

Pet or breeding makes no difference whatsoever. To prove that she is a pedigree Bengal the breeder MUST give you a copy of her pedigree when you pay and collect the kitten and (good breeder will) a micro-chip certificate. You should also have been given a transfer certificate that the breeder will have signed and you send it to GCCF so cat is registered in your name and not the breeder's. When you collected the cat you SHOULD have been given the vaccination certificate as NO KITTEN SHOULD EVER BE SOLD without one. First vaccination at 9 weeks and second at 12/13 and then wait a week to ensure no reaction.
My wife has been breeding cats for over 30 yrs so if you want to know anything about new kittens and paperwork just ask.
I suggest you visit the GCCF website and have a browse about new kitten ownership.
