I have GOT TO do that duck call mod, it's awesome! :thumb: :lol1:

Maybe a kazoo would work too? :wonder:

In the meantime, I'm waiting for hell to break loose on this thread, and will hold off on any comments that inevitably are going to be made by someone else anyway! ;)

Maybe the search facility can direct searches for "dump valve" to a huge picture of a face palm eh Tubbs? :thumb: ;)

dump valves don't bother me tbh, if you want to fit one knock yahself out.

its the amount of threads created by newbs about them asking for advice, then receiving it and because its not what they want to hear chucking there toys out the pram.

:lol1: I certainly did, although that sticky is an 08-10 2.5 sticky, mine is an 06!! ;) - ha ha! That's a tenuous defence isn't it? Anyway, call it "playing the odds", but I figure if its going to go bang, it's going to do it within the first 6 months ownership... Whilst it's still the dealers problem! ;) :thumb:

If it doesn't, then having it forged is on the cards!! ;) lol.

No, you shouldn't have any with it being a 2.5... The pistons should have broken them up by now! :lol1:

if you fit lights that are too powerful, your car actually goes slower as it recoils from the light firing out forwards.......:)

Agreed, but if we can make at least one person THINK before doing a possibly harmful, and certainly useless mod, then we have done good, my son.

As above. :D

There are Subaru specialists...and there are Subaru "specialists".....
I am not aware of ONE trusted one that thinks a VTA d/v is a good idea.

Lighten up.

In the end, people will make up their own minds. Some will choose to ignore advice...not opinions, ADVICE, however couched. Some of those will pay the price.

But as I said, it would be a pretty poor forum if we who know better (;)) said nowt and let people do stuff that is at best, useless for the outlay, and at worst harmful to the running of their car and maybe to the engine.

Good shout, wasn't having the best day at the office at time of writing :Whatever_

I currently have a dump valve.... so... if I remove it, what benefits am I likely to see and will it need a map.

Not a troll, but if people are that against it then I guess there must be some sort of logic....

It shouldn't need a remap, unless you've had it specifically programmed to run with one (i.e. mafless setup), it might take an hour or so for the ECU to learn how to adjust fuelling again though, but that's not an issue.

Might see better fuel consumption, might see smoother running at gearchange, and DEFINITELY WON'T be diluting the oil or causing borewash with raw fuel.
