Fair enough it was my mistake (plastic bottles only ) but most of what would have went to recycle in those two weeks ended up in the landfill bin.

But not as bad as OP , no.

Things like this are particularly stupid, not least because the clear plastic fruit trays are usually grade 2 or 3 plastic exactly same as drink bottles. It annoys me where I live in East Yorkshire that if you choose to be antisocial and not recycle anything so just put all your plastic, food waste, paper and tins in the general waste this will be taken away no question. Council fearful of upsetting people and doesn't educate enough.

It's amazing what £20 at christmas will do for the rest of the year, it's probably the best £20 i spend all year round.

My bin men take anything and everything i put outside next to the bins, they pull them off the drive if i forget and put them back, i think i'm on the Gold service package.:lol1:

They even move the bin wagon for me when they see me coming,:lol1: the driver used to be on the bins and i've always said hello, give em tips and just been nice to them, my nan would make them and the window cleaner mince pies and cups of tea, and always taught me to look after the bin men at xmas.;)

It would appear some treat them as second class citizens so get the service they deserve:lol1:.

its worth it imo tbh.

ive worked enough low paid jobs to remeber who is good to you and who isnt!!

fixing punctures/swap overs, they slung you a fiver and all was done with precision effieceny! stick on alloy weights for balancing were used instead of hammer on ect ect.
if youve got a small amount to be able to tip at xmas then id definatley advise it. the guys really do appreciate any kind gesture, and are more than helpful during the year if they can be.

its not the monetary value (playas at part, but it shows appreciation), its the dispaly of appreciation of the guys doing the job, rather than pretending they dont exsist..

as long as i can affoard to, i tip posties, bin men, waiters, and give to the homless on occassion.

i cant see a reason not to tbh.

yes many are paid for there services - to do a job. but being appreciateive costs very little.

I tip IF someone does a good job , not SO they do a good job.

Unfortunately I've done this job Les, when I first started I was instructed to stop the lorry in this position to "fend off" for the lads working at the rear

I understand what you are saying, but there are times when the traffic just cannot move until the lorry drives on a bit. I don't see much point in causing an obstruction like that and how it can protect anyone either, could even be more dangerous.

People who are stupid enough to drive dangerously near those working by the lorry should be reported too.
