Second paragraph .... the 2006 sti had an ej257.

Yes the ej255 is a 2.5 engine so that quote "Featuring Subaru's superb 2.5 STI engine" does not in any way refer to the forester possibly having the ej257 engine.

And I have read, re-read and re-read again, and either I'm going blind, mad or both! but nowhere on the second paragraph or any other paragraph does it say it had an ej257....?????

legacy_gtb 10 January 2012 03:02 PM

See what your saying .... It doesnt actually say its a 257 directly, i just read it as implying that it shared the engine with the impreza sti of the same year.

If you pull the heads off, my money would be on it being an SCD!

OK, for all you doubting thomas's :D:D that the FSTi has an EJ255 engine

From the Model Report...........

From the Database...............

It remained an EJ255 throughout its build run

Good post Don .... thats the answer then!

Think i may have added confusion by getting 255's confused with 251's .... as arent the 255's semi closed too .... i.e. the same block as a 257???

Assuming now its scd, what I said before. Keep crank and rods standard, change out pistons and spec turbo/IC/injectors for 440/400.

Great thread!!!!!
As the very proud owner of a FSTi myself im looking forward to your project on what is IMHO one of thee best family cars out there!!!!

As Don says you should pop over onto the Europe section of subaruforester.org where us FSTi owners normally frequent! I know there will be more people there that will be interested in your Fozza!!!

Good luck

Ian

Great thread indeed :thumb:

Don't forget OzFoz.com.au
I am looking to do something very similar to this on my FSTi: http://ozfoz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2143
The new billet wheel turbos are giving fantastic gains.

Yep I spend most of my time on there, ooops I have just posted on scoobynet

Alan MaC 03 February 2012 08:17 PM

One of the boys on the Foresters Site made over 400 brake without tooo much mods.

It was a Black FSTI in stealth.

Used to disappoint big beast cars.

It has been known that Fozs disappoint all sorts of "intersting" cars.

I even "surprised" a Porsche Cayninne on the M5 with my last Foz.

They say, that Impreza owners, who understand the understated potential of a FSTI, secretly yearn for one??

Any pointers for making yer Foz "intersting" just give us a call.

For the Impreza Boys/Legacy boys we are just a click away.

Happy Subaruing everyone.

Is P Lewis stilll around??

regards.
