Just drive. :thumb:

I went up and down that way earlier this year quite a bit. It was straight forward fom me i.e. M56, M6, M5 and keep going until the bloke from your satnav tell you to exit. Then a bit of p!ssing about to the destination on A30, and............ bingo.:thumb:I even broke the journey and met some Bristolite friends in Gordano Services for a coffee. Putting together my coffee and diesel expenses, it was cheaper than the regular Trainline ticket, if not faster. Well, it was also faster because it cut out an hour for me to drive up n' down to the rail station + waiting around for the train like some loser. It also cut out my expense of parking my car at the station, which is a rip off nowadays. no silly stops in Cardiff or else either. But if you want cheaper ticket for the train, try buying it about a month in advance. Ticket sellers tell you all that on their websites.

I like the sound of that! Much better than that trebuchet business :D
Looks like some further research is in order, cheers!

There are much better ticket sites than thetrainline, who add credit card fees etc and don't make it easy to find the cheap fares. I use www.eastcoast.co.uk which makes it easy to see the cheapest deal for a given day without dozens of "next 2hr window" clicks.

If you got any Tesco Clubcard vouchers then you can exchange them at £10 = £20 for rail travel: http://www.tesco.com/clubcard/deals/...4967191|Travel

I'd still drive though :D
