i think your best bet is ebay m8 maybe you,d get 3k upward on the bay prob 4k if your lucky best of luck with whatever you decide fella im on my 3rd engine so know how it feels i realy wouldnt go spending more money on it though if you spent 7k on it plus prob bought it for 7? thats 14k your going to spend minimum 2k to get it running again and then sell it for 5--6k

as it isnt highly modded, get a new engine and refit your turbo,exhaust etc.
a non running scooby isnt really worth a lot, and second hand your parts are probably worth 800 to a 1000.
either way its going to cost you a few quid.

Let's put things in perspective chap.
If the car is very tidy and running perfectly with the mods you have it's worth in the region of £7000. That being the very most fella. In all honesty you should be thinking more like £6000 with the current Impreza market.
If you were to sell it as is your going to be in for a massive shock value wise. The car is worth £3000 tops. YES REALLY, £3000. Nobody in their right mind would pay more than that for a non running car in need of a complete engine.
To say it's got £7000 worth of mods is crazy because it quite obviously hasn't chap.
Not slating you or the car but just want to make the situation clear for you.

Your next step all depends on what you want to do with the car. Do you want out of it or do you really want to keep it.

yea i meant the cost of maintaining the car and the mods it has came to 7k not , not 7k mods, i should have been clear on tht. been realistic it probably has 3k of mods.

i wudnt expect to get anymore than 3k non-running tbh.

If you want out then forget about doing a rebuild, especially a forged one. That will all be massive money down the drain.
You need to find a good, low mileage second hand engine. They are out there, just take some searching. Remember, lots of these cars get written off so there are parts out there.

maintanence cost are irrelevant when you say it has 7k mods, it has at the most 2k worth and thats when they were new.
second hand brake pads and discs are next to worthless and a second hand turbo is a gamble for anyone, exhaust 200 quid maybe, so if you got 1k you would have done ok.
so you either sell for 4k or fix for about 2k and you will have a lightly modded impreza you know the history off and would be worth about 6k.
i see these as the only options really

You may even want to sell your uprated parts and return the car to standard. You've probably got a grands worth of mods there to sell. This would help pay for another engine at least.

yea its at scoobyclinic, detonation was the diagnosis through ****e fuel!

Just out of interest, who mapped it? When Duncan mapped my 06 wrx to similar power he turned it down a bit to compensate for lower fuel grades and limit detonation.

it was mapped for v-power and i didnt use v-power for a while

Bugger. I would have thought any 99 fuel would have been fine too!

apparently its because the fuel was E5, which is 5% ethanol, which makes it run lean or something, and tht done the dmage, so we think.

Trouble is, scoobys are just not worth much now. Any fuel or tax expensive car for that matter. There was an 06 hawkeye wrx sl with 350bhp for sale on here recently, looked great and seller dropped from 7k all the way down to £4k last week. Still not sure it sold. Stupid times.
