The sensor should be as close to the throttle body as possible and the silicon joiner to the throttle body is pretty handy. You can put an insert in the joiner and thread the sensor in to that. On an FMIC installation you can put this sensor at the end of the hard pipe just before the throttle body if you do not want to position as indicated above.
I have also located in the front tank of the TMIC as Splitpin has done above.
I guess it depends what you have available and your own preferences.
The sensor for the ACT guages which I have is a proper brass sensor and not a thin wire probe so you do not have the option of sticking the thin wire probe underneath a joiner.
It should go without saying that the sensor has to be mounted in such a way that it is not subject to heat soak or if it is the heat soak is dissipated immediately the car starts moving.

harvey, in YOUR opinion,
You only ever get MY opinion ;)

If I was to rig up a gauge, it would be into a Hyperflow FM's hard pipe bend before the TB as you say - so all good. :)

Can your brass temp sensors be rigged up to a PFC ECU, so as to utilise the Commander's, otherwise redundant, "Air-T" monitor parameter?

I dont know if it will make any difference in performance, but no they are not the same, the sti unit has bigger cores and they are not as tightly packed as the std black unit on your car. this i presume would help increase the airflow slightly, but the main benefit is the Y pipe set up underneath - opposed to the cheap plastic hosing on your current car.:thumb:

I have no idea. Any Apexi Power FC I have seen does not utilise air charge temperature.
You could start by checking the output voltage and take it from there.
Sorry you are going to have to try this for yourself.
