I can see some of my clients and my previous employers HQ in that picture :D

David
Did you get yourself on the list for a Porsche GT3

Leeds Porsche are quite simply a bunch of muppets... I am very pissed off with their lack of customer service.... - then again so too are West London Porsche who never even had the curteousy to return any calls.. and their phones were always engaged

Trout 06 February 2010 12:11 PM

I tried to buy a new GT3 (996 Mk II) at Leeds Porsche and they were useless.

They were fairly decent when I took mine there for a service. Not in the market for a brand new one - although it does look fabulous!

Hey up Steve. Seems the years haven't dulled your appetite for power and performance. Ah Well Lane, heady days and I hope the STI (V5) is still in mint condition. It's certainly come a long way since then. :thumb:

Thanks mate...yes long, long time ago

The issue with Subaru's is if something brakes like the Gearbox getting it fixed can take months as many of the decent places just have weeks upon weeks of waiting time.. or people I can trust are up to 300 miles away... (600 miles round trip) - there are no decent places in the South and the best one for service that I have ever come across - RCMS is just always too busy so most of the time I wouldnt not even try and call as I tend to know the answer before hand

I have gone through a lot of combinations of everything on the car... it has some rust patches in the arches which I will sort.. interior isnt great but thats more pointless £1000's dabbling with stereo equipment.. that was very foolish

Have had my Car since new August 1999... about the same time I went onto Scoobynet, but changed jobs and could not find the password to my old username (sti5brigade)... and after several attempts with the moderators.. every single email ignored (I tried again about 9 months ago) I am still using Fangoria.....

I bought an STI Forrester for the wife (a Black one) back in October 2007 from Litchfield, having had a Blue wrx in 2004.. even with an ecutek these cars are awful as the gearbox ratio's are such that they are incredibly laggy - The Forrester was a surprise (quite hard suspension though) - just cant believe we didnt get one years ago as they are so, so practical - great cars.. we really didnt have much of an alternative as the new Scoobs look awful and just dont seem very practical - look a much smaller car

Nissan GTR is in another world - effortless is the phrase... obviously a lot more expensive but so much better put together

Fangoria 07 February 2010 01:17 PM

Einstein
Should add I dont tend to post as often to this site as it can, at times be very slow -something that the moderators/owners never seem to have got to grips with... must be doing things on a limited budget!!
I know its not my PC as Scoobynet is the only forum site that runs this slow

Scoobychick 07 February 2010 01:34 PM

Fangoria, YHPM :)

sti5brigade 07 February 2010 03:13 PM

Thanks Scoobychick
After nearly 9 years of requesting a reset password and access to my old sti5brigade name I finally have it :-)

Trout........ now wonder if you can remember my old login name!..............

Its funny to be called a Scooby newbie!!

Hi Steve,

Nice to see you motoring today! :thumb: Made me smile as you turned away from your route home to have a quick sprint down our local main road. I had seen the car being driven around the 'hood but hadn't realised it was you until I went past your house a couple of weeks ago.

Anyway I guessed there might a post or two about it on here (not been on for ages)

You did look cramped, but happy. :)

Any chance I can pop over for a closer look?

Asif

scooby L 07 June 2010 10:32 AM

Clarkson is 6.5" and fat! He manages to fit in it ok?!?!?
I'm 6.5" and 18stone and if a was in a position to buy a R35 I'd make sure I fit in lol.
jammy bar-stuard lol.

Fangoria 21 July 2010 11:56 PM

I'm 6'2 and over 18' stone but cycling to work.. but I travel too much..

Asif
Good to catch up... I have to be careful now with so much BHP within 10 metres....

I think I like a 500bhp Ariel Atom now....

GTR is a nice car but no good for me.. good for the wife - I'm going to do a side by side test soon from 50-150 and see what the result is

Trout 22 July 2010 12:03 AM

911 Turbo S - evo got it to do 0-60 in 2.9s and to a hundred in 6.8s. They said it was the most brutal acceleration that had experienced, including the Veyron.

Or a 911 GT2RS - second only to a Veryon between 100 and 200 mph. 611bhp, RWD, fabulous!

Fangoria 22 July 2010 12:15 AM

like the look of the new GT2 - but £165k for the base model.....
Dont fancy a Turbo S - will be too common ;-)

Need to get an Ariel Atom as Track car and then GT2 as a spare.. kidding :-)... well at least for the next 12 months I think

Trout 22 July 2010 12:39 AM

It is £165 for the RS - which is a bit more special than the base model ;)

I would ask around about the Atom - I have spoken to a couple of the 'Driving Experience' drivers and they don't like them much.

Fangoria 22 July 2010 08:42 AM

Re the RS - is that the all in price though - you know how Porsche like to load on the extra's - then again thinking about it cant think what else they can add, other than Tracker, 3rd year warranty, etc, etc

Ariel... I've been a 300bhp one and that was great..scary almost

I'll do some searches on the 500bhp one :-)

pippyrips 28 July 2010 11:56 PM

I'm 6'2 and never had a problem in mine, if you struggle in one how the hell will you cope in an atom?!

The GT2 RS comes with things like ceramics as standard. Indeed for the same spec it is not THAT much more than a GT3 RS.

Definitely the top of my dream car list now! Move over GTO!

wylie1 29 July 2010 01:47 PM

a guy i no has a gtr he upgraded from a evo fq360 running 400bhp+ the gtr he has got is the 600bhp nismo edition and hes only 25 oh my god its fast he got 204mph in germany and on full boost can get 0-60 down to 2.7 secs he comes out to meets in it the noise from the exhaust is crazy and for around 60k nothing can touch it also a mate of mine has a 2004 gt3 among a long list of other porsches hes now thinking about swopping gt3 for a gtr

zip106 29 July 2010 03:16 PM

Yeah but no but yeah but...

Fangoria 29 July 2010 08:15 PM

Was that a pisstake about the Atom - as it has no fcking roof!
Nissan GTR is very restricted on headheight meaning comfort is sacrificed and you cannot get a decent seating position

That said I've just had the 1200 mile optimisation service - set the camber to -1.75 all round and some tweaks to the gearbox and in race mode...... fkin hell that thing shifts
At low speeds its difficult to floor it as it just spins the wheels and you get a warning light coming on.. so with an extra 100bhp (which is fairly easy to achieve) I cant see how it would do 0-60 in 2.7 seconds..

Dave - GT3RS was about £100k all in as I recall - GT2RS is £165k... big difference..
GT3RS comes with ceramics doesnt it and a few other goodies?

Trout 29 July 2010 09:39 PM

GT3RS I am pretty sure the ceramics and carbon seats add around £12k to the price - I could be wrong but I didn't think they were standard.

Just brings the difference a little closer ;)

My own tame racing driver doesn't rate the Atom.

On the evo test track the GT3 RS is faster than the GTR - there is more to speed than going fast ;)

wylie1 30 July 2010 09:49 AM

aparently the nismo does 0-60 in 3.2secs with out launch control and in launch control will hit 60mph in 2.7secs if i didnt know him i wudnt of believed him but he had no reason 2 lie as he has nothing to prove even at 3.2 secs to 60mph is the fastest car at the car meets by a country mile also another mate of mine his dad who also owns ex-rc developments 850+bhp orange evo owns a standard gtr and it doesnt come close to the nismo edition there a about 5 gtr`s in blackpool at the moment going to be common than a scooby soon

john banks 30 July 2010 09:22 PM

Fangoria, do you have the traction in R mode? If not, do it, or VDC off is now warranty friendly I gather if you think you can catch the back in a hurry, it can get to quite some angles so I hope you're quick ;)

wylie1, what time/terminal speed has this one done on a dragstrip? With only 600 BHP it is not going to be competitive with the best, I alone have tuned two with over 700 BHP and 700 lbft that hold the UK quarter mile 1st (10.3 at 139mph) and 2nd slots. Litchfield and Car Planet (ex RC) have also done over 700 BHP.

Fangoria 30 July 2010 09:23 PM

I think I need to have all 3 buttons on race mode to avoid the wheel spins maybe - not sure... too complicated this car!

john banks 30 July 2010 10:10 PM

I like R Normal R.

Gives the suspension enough compliance (it auto adjusts unlike R mode which is fixed firm) to stop it losing traction on the bumpy bits.

For the gearbox (left hand switch), R mode manual allows a double tap to drop two gears and lets it bounce off the rev limiter whereas normal mode changes up at about 6800, useful when overtaking if you start in 2nd or 3rd as it hits the rev limiter very easily, but especially if you tune it you have to watch if you floor it to overtake something before you've steered around it as otherwise the back end can try to overtake you. Some of the lessons from driving a fast Scooby apply in this respect except that the torque/lack of lag can sometimes be surprising.

thunderousity 30 July 2010 10:56 PM

As true petrol heads I haven't seen the mention of which sounds better - GTR/Porsche.......SUBARU - Surely that has got to be a deciding factor.

Pity there isn't a GTR on Forza 3 at the moment or i'd have a listen in Dolby 5.1.

Trout 31 July 2010 12:56 AM

A GT3 on full chat between 6-8,000 rpm knocks them all into a cocked hat for sounding fantastic!
