just a moment off thats dick about abit. I really did think i was going to just get a good bollocking and left at that. I used to have a blade and got pulled on that the policemen even sat on it and told me how he wanted a bike but wife wouldnt let him he even turned a blind eye to the rivet going through the "not" on the NOT FOR ROAD USE can.
A truely nice copper he had been in force for 15 year tho. the one that got me on r1 was quite young really |
I mean this in a nice way, but i'm glad the cops are finally doing something aboth perple "having a laugh" on bikes... i know you were in control, and if the roads were busy, it'd never have happened, but seriously, round my way, the bikers get away with EVERYTHING..... the twisty A7 road to my house is constantly filled with power rangers doing well in excess of a ton, on one wheel, overtaking on blind corners etc etc (not all at once obviously lol) and they seem to do nothing about it....
Having been banned preiously for being caught speeding twice in my first two years, i can totally feel your pain... especially when my two offences were 35 in a 30 (at 2:00 am) and was clocked by a hidden camera doing 81 on the motorwway on a Sunday afternoon..... not exactly death defying speeds! Was banned for 6 months, had to re-apply for my bloody provisional at the end of the 6 months, book and pass both my theory and practical, and still have the points on my licence for 4 years... (That was a bit of a rant there!) The fact is that the law is definately inconsistent... i know of quite a few folk been done for minor speeding, and lost there licence, and others doing over 100, and have been told, "slow down son" its a pain in the arse..... As said mate, hopefully the ban will go past quickly... strangely mines actually did!!! Passed with 1 minor fault the second time too (excessive acceleration ironically - getting to 30 too quickly) |
A few month ago i took my R1 out on a lovely nite me and a few mates were messing about abit on a industrial estate when i decided it would be a good idea to see if me and my mate could do the whole strip on back wheel. Off we come off roundabout and down a gear front whell comes up 2 secs later........ blue lights. And a charge off driving dangourosly.
How old are you ? |

Yesterday went to court letter said 2 oclock so i was there for 1.30 surrounded by smack rats. all sat with solictors and in the 3 hours i was waiting all but 1 walking out with a smile. So my turn comes off i walk into court explained it was a moment off stupidity and wouldnt do it again and how id sold the R1 (didnt mention id bought a R6) Cps was in slapping distance and really layed it on thick. So magistrates comes out with we are going to give you 9 points for the offence plus a fine (£1000) as you already have 6 points this will ban you. You are banned for 9 month!!!!!!!!!!!! A bloody smack head got done for no license no mot no tax no insurance etc and got a 3 month ban and no fine how the bloody hell does that work? Should explain that when i first got a impreza i got pulled and found out my traders didnt cover it hence no insurance = 6 points! Not happy bunny Reading your post sounds you got what was coming to you :thumb: |

Have i said i didnt deserve punishing? i just think it was a bit harsh compared to some other prosercutions that day.
But then thats not forget that we have never done anything wrong:thumb: The insurance was as i got traders insurance when i get my first scooby (uk) and added it to it. i sold that for a 95 wrx import and when i got pulled i wasnt insured on imports. Anyway before the iv never done anything wrong in my whole life brigade turn up and follow suit (as what happens on many threads) Thanks for kind words fellas and thinking about gettin a push iron now lol. |

You were unlucky and sadly that is what happens in life sometimes. Do your time and keep your chin up - you'll be riding again in no time. I so understand your frustration at the smack heads and the likes. I went to court for speeding a while ago now, but my blood was boiling at the different standards of treatment from the magistrates they got compared to me... apparently I should have known better. |
Mate its not he bike that bothers me its the car, and having to rely on lifts i am kind off lucky as im mates with everyone that has a unit inn my yard so can scrounge a lift.
And stupid things like needing somthing from shop. O well could have done with out fine this near too christmas as well but its payed and sorted now. |

Sorry to hear about that Pikey. The problem is that the coppers will do you for a wheelie as soon as look at you. We both know its not that dangerous, easy enough to control as long as you have not gone too far with it, but its a gift for them if they catch you at it.
I often used to lift a wheel when leant well over cornering with the old ZZR 1100 I had, it was very torquey and no danger involved. I did not raise the wheel very far though and was very careful not to if I saw a copper about. I knew a bloke to get done for the front wheel about 6" off the floor coming out of a roundabout where there was a slightly raised surface as he straightened the bike up! Looks like you are stuck with it and the fine is well over the top. Les :( |

Just try and put it behind you which I know is easier said than done, but dwelling on what cannot now be changed is not productive - been there so I know what I am talking about before I get called a patronising tw@t!! :D |
I'm not saying that I am perfect at all.
I nearly got 6 points for driving a car up my road without a bonnet. We had just changed the clutch on my mates golf and didn't want to re-fit the bonnet before we gave it a quick test. I had done no more that 100 yards when I was pulled over and given a producer. I then realised that I wasn't covered to drive any other vehicle so I knew that my arse was in a sling. I turned up to the police station in my dirty overalls the next day with my policy which showed that I wasn't covered. The lady behind the desk just said, 'oh, there we go.' She then gave me a wink and that was that. I thanked my lucky stars as I knew I had no leg to stand on. If I had received the points though or even lost my license, I would have accepted it. :thumb: You were on a sticky wicket with 6 points on your license. Unfortunately, you had a little play on the bike and got busted. It's sods law, but the sooner you realise that it was YOUR f&ck up and not the courts, the sooner you will move on. :thumb: I am sorry to hear that you have lost your license..it would piss me off too. :thumb: |

Les/Pikey,
but isn't that the point. Sometimes a pretty tame accident can kill someone. Just catches there neck as the wrong angle or whatever and gone. Sometimes there are very big accidents and everyone gets away with it. However, one thing is clear, there are a disproportionate number of deaths and serious injuries on big bikes than anything else on the road. I have, sadly, seen it right in front of me. And the police will have seen it many times over. So this time I side with the justice system, combined with the earlier ban. |

Annoys the f out of me but what can you do, it sucks. |
I havent been banned before mate?
And think you will find that most bike accidents are caused by cars. I have also seen cars pull out on bikes (that werent speeding) Its very east to become a bonet ornament on a bike. |
Sorry I thought you had been banned before - it must have been someone else.
I would challenge your contention as if that were true why is that that big power bikes have more serious accidents? If what say were true then it would be evenly spread across all motorbikes and push bikes for that matter... ...unless the big bikes were going faster! The accidents I have seen were all big bikes thinking they could pass quickly and hit oncoming cars. So yes, bonnet ornament. No, not the cars fault. |
Id have thought all bikes were the same when it comes to a accidents? i could very easily be wrong on that!
It is also very easy to get to cocky on a bike and think ill nip into that gap and come unstuck. But its just the same as people in cars thinking they can overtake when they cant. Just a quick question when i come off my ban will i have the pointsstill |
Points will stick for 3 years i think, not sure how it relates with a ban. And to say that most bike accidents are caused by cars is just plain stupidity.
|
68% of ROWV accidents where the motorcyclist is not regarded as to blame involve a driver who somehow fails to see a motorcyclist who should be in clear view, and indeed frequently is in view to witnesses or other road users in the area. Failures of observation that involve drivers failing to take account of restricted views of one kind or another, and failing to judge the approach speed and/or distance of a motorcyclist, are not included in this category. Sometimes, accident-involved drivers in motorcycle accidents fail to see riders even when they are verifiably using visibility aids, such as daytime running lights and high-visibility protective clothing. This occurs in 7.1% of such cases (but the level of the use of these aids to visibility is felt to be under-reported by police). An example of such a case is given in Figure 7.
quote from department off transport Yeah really stupid to suggest such a thing  |

Pikey, did your mate get done too????
you said there were 2 of you going for it.... |
Firstly, hard luck on the persecution.....
Second, the problem is that of the other 32% of ROWV (?) accidents involve a disproportionately high number of serious and fatal incidents...... My pal is a paramedic and sees way more than you'd ever want to ! I also have a pal who was quicker down the strip at Elvington on his back wheel than most bikers could manage on two.... in the end "Trev" perma-banned him as he was deemed dangerous.... ( to his insurance maybe ? ). dunx |
Dunx can believe it mate one off those jobs that they should be on double what they are.
As for my mate it was one off those times it paid for his bike to be slower than mine as he didnt get front wheel up. Just got a producer. dunx check this out mate not your mate is it????? lol YouTube - 0-100-0mph Suzuki GSX-R1000 vs Lamborghini Gallardo |
No "Rich" was scary on Elvington, on his 1100 (?), but drives an Evo on the road now.
Certainly not daft enough to film evidence for the police to prosecute him with ;) dunx P.S. Liveleak bike crash video links turned my stomach, especially that W4nk3r missing the landing in a skip (!), and snapping his spine.... :cuckoo: |
Firstly bad luck on the ban, every biker i know pulls wheelies (used to have gixer myself)those who dont wish they could.Secondly that GSXR vid was awsome only a biker would know how much fun he was having(in the wet too).True what your saying about scumbags, who have nothing to loose when & if they get caught, seems if you work for a living etc you get hammered by the courts, just the way life is sometimes.
|
Can i suggest you buy the following book worte by Adrian Shurmer (an ex CID officer who jacked in the forces as its corupt) whom gets a lot of work out our business. The book is wrote in good context so everyone can understand it. It expalins the basic rules of the law and how flawed the goverment, cps and concil is.
index For example did you know it is illegal to overtake on double white lines.......... you did....?? This is only true if there are cats eyes in the middle on the lines, and if there are some cats eyes missing and you get caught by the cps it may not stand up in court (so get photos of the missing cats eyes) If there is no cats eyes at all then tell the cps to get fooked or take you to court as it will get thrown out Did you know you are to give a cyclist 6 feet when overtaking???..... no shame on you. Actual the above is true, but have you noticed that in some areas when you approach a central road island there is a cycle path right op |
Cheers mate the copper was on his own does that mean i could have got away with it?
