this sounds like its kinda worth saving for.

are they alright to run with an AVCR? iv got one and wouldnt mind keeping it as it gives me a user interface to alter boost..something i cant do on the ecu as i arnt a mapper! or should i sell the avcr and just use what comes with the ecu?

can keep the avcr or sell it and use the ecu's boost control

I have kept avcr on my own car but only because I like to be able to fiddle whilst on the move and I am swapping ecu's over in my own car fairly regular.

the boost control on the solaris is very good so you could sell the avcr.

christ now im in a predicament for future plans :lol1:

is it better then avcr? the worlds best coost controller...

P20SPD 18 June 2009 12:20 PM

Hard to describe, but it is superb. You tell it what you want, and thats what you invariably get.

I was down at Zen the other week with John Stevenson, who had Andy Forrest mapping his car on Zens rollers. Andy showed me the boost datalog after they had finished and said, "look at the boost control". It was basically like a table top once boost target was achieved.

Hard to do on a keyboard but basically _/-------------

I ran this ecu all last season, and i never had any boost control issues whatsoever.

IMO, i would save up for the solaris, its worth the extra cost, although i have never had a Simtek myself, i have just listened to a lot of my good friends talk about the differences. Those friends being some of the main mappers in the uk for subarus.

This is so tempting right now...

Due to see Simon on 8 July...

*Must fight urges*

boost control on robs is a flat line..

I'll change mine from AVCR to solaris boost control when I get time and therefore be able to answer which is better.. I just like fiddling with it whilst driving

Banny

Banny. FWIW. I went from using an AVCR to simtek and found the latter significantly better in terms of boost control, simtek also offers excellent resolution certainly more than good enough for most. It seems as if Solaris has the clear edge on features.

That said. I got my Simtek with no anti-lag or launch control and gave a low and high boost map, but leave it on the high one and just regulate with my right foot! :D i.e. I got the simtek purely for the quality of the "core" ECUs functionality

Comes down to whether you need the extra features IMHO.

cat plus pidgeons = PLOP

I'm going to ask why a dead flat boost "curve" is deemed most suitable ?

Not being funny, genuine question.

TIA
