my sisters fiance nearly went to prison when he had a row with my sister, he had a fe barcardi's and needed to get away so he jumped in his car and off he went, he had drunk nearly half the bottle so was in no condition to drive needless to say he crashed and wrote off the car, and the other parked car he crashed into. luckily it was like 2-3am so not many people were about. hes a really nice guy and not one of the types of a hole you would expect to do this sort of thing. he was saving up for a M3 but that got chucked out the window after what happend. he's still with my sister and still regrets what he did, and hasn't touched the drink since. his dad also had a severe word with him. but it got me thinking at just how easy these sort of things are, now i'm not condoning drink driving for one second, but i've been in situations where i just need some space and take a long drive to calm me down. i just think he had the same idea but was too drunk to do anything. and before someone says he should've been locked up and he could've nearly killed someone hes fully aware of that and has loads of regrets and no-ones perfect. reading that diary made me realise that is very easily done.

To be fair, the description of his personal loss of control makes it sounds that he was being somewhat more than a little enthusiastic. It must have been a pretty comprehensive slide if he left tyre marks all over the road as he said and you have to be driving appreciably over the limits of control to lose the car as he did.

It was very unlucky for the motor cyclist to have been in that particular place at that time, but he is entitled to expect a road clear of someone else's accident. I have learned to drive defensively on my bike but its difficult to cover every unlikely eventuality.

I certainly did not like the sound of his description of prison life, but he made a major mistake and the motor cyclist has suffered serious injury because of it. Prison should be a deterrent so I have no argument with his experiences as he describes.

As J4cko's Mate says, its a signal warning to us all over our style of driving, especially on today's overcrowded roads.
