Apparently he is alive but now in a wheelchair !

Looked like a .45, not something I would want to take into the abdomen.

I enjoy shooting as well and from what you can make of that story is it was a legal activity and the kid had used guns frequently in the past, something went wrong this time recoil isn't massive from something firing relatively small rounds. Just to add a bit in the UK there is no minimum age that you can apply for a shotgun certificate and no minimum age you can use one, in theory you could let an 8 year old use a 12 bore and close range its got far more energy. In practice you just wouldn't but it is parental choice but I have seen similar age kids using .410's

ive never fired an uzi but ive fired many other guns and i should imagine an uzi being fully automatic would give quite some recoil especially for an 8 year old there is no way on earth he should of been allowed to fire that gun on his own :cuckoo:

It's not gun's that kill people, it's the person that pulls the trigger. Young children and guns don't and shouldn't mix, except in the most carefully controlled, supervised and monitored situations. As for an 8yr old and an Uzi, that's plain stupidity. Yes he'd use guns before, but an SMG FFS, most people would probably not expect the gun to behave as small SMG's do, the high rate of fire, combined with their small size is going to cause them to "climb" in a novices hand.

Let's face it, most kids treat guns as toys, because that's what they get given, toy guns, so how can they be expected to handle them safely without strict supervision.

Also it's a short weapon/machine pistol jobbie and is often used without any form of shoulder stock or brace. Makes the situation far, far more dangerous IMO. Especially if you give it to a kid.

Depending on model (there are 3 main ones) the foregrip (some dont have this) is quite rounded and not the best to hold. But like I said on the last page, I would bet he had both hands on the main grip, one to hold the trigger / grip and the other on the grip / hold to fire safety catch. Most do have a stock of some kind, they tend to be swing or folding. This makes it much more stable and much easier to fire. Guns like this just dont fit small hands.

So, perhaps IMI could introduce "My First UZI" or "UZI Jnr" ?

Slightly frivolous... but i think taking a 155mm howitzer clay pigeon shooting would be a laugh.
