PS3 does make a reasonable blu-ray player Its the best Blu Ray player on the market and the cheapest and the only one with profile 2 as far as I know and its forever getting upgraded with new firmware (the latest now decodes DTS-HD sound ) |

get an XBOX 360 Elite :thumb: larger hard drive, hdmi connection, and comes all in black, looks cool! got the 360, everyone else in work has the PS3, personally i wouldn't go back to having a Playstation after playing games on the XBOX 360.

I had the original Playstation and the PS2, I even bought an XBox when they came down to £160, was more of an impulse buy as it was down in price and wanted to see what it was like. I constantly compared it to the PS though and games like PGR and Sega GT just weren't Gran Turismo!
I lost interest by the time the 360 came out but appricieated the games and graphics. I ended up buying a Wii as it offered something new and was like having the old VR machines in your living room with its controls! 1 year of ownership though, only a handful of decent games and seeing the screen shots for Gran Turismo 5 though I started craving a Playstation again! One week ago today I picked up my shiny Playstaion 3 from the Post Office! The wireless controller pisses all over the infra red Wiimote (although fun!) I'm now looking forward to playing the new crop of games that I was missing on the Wii, granted most are available on the 360 as well as the PS3 with the exception of a few exclusives on either machine. All boils down to wether you were a PS owner or an XBox owner in my opinion |

Got both too.
360 for gaming, PS3 for Blue Ray. Keep meaning too buy Unchartered for the PS3 as I liked the demo but for me the 360 is the gaming choice. |

It's all very well them harping on about x million amount of sales but if they are not buying games/accessories then they are not profitable customers. |

You have to wonder if this is helping or hindering Sony, they are still making a loss on each console sold so everybody buying the console purely for blu-ray isn't helping them one bit.

do you want my opinion? NO? well your gonna get it anyway
PS3 = BIG ol' piss stained pair of boxers of a machine with a **** controller. **** blu-ray machine which robbed the world of HD-DVD which *WAS* a better looking format although soundwise much of a muchness. If this console was a person it would be Hilter and the Xbox would be a Jew. Hilter may be all powerful but the Jews are financially sound people with great ideas and better still are good at putting there idea's into good practice. Now I know for a FACT i'd rather go to the pub with a Jew than i would with Hilter. but in the end look what Hilter did to the humble Jew. Now if and i stress *IF* you buy a PS3 can you live with yourself being classed as a pure NAZI? I can only give you the FACTS but you need to do what you feel is right! |

Please don't tell me it is *that* important to you that someone not say anything positive or negative about a given console.

Hmm, not quite 1,000,000. PS3 is quieter, but it still makes a constant noise when turned on, especially when spinning the blu-ray disc. 360 is noisier, but I don't find it a problem at all.

from just that one post DreamWeaver i can see a bit of onesidedness. Which i personally don't think would be tolerated in a thread like this!:freak3:

Could you name some? I'm yet to see anything on the 360 that isn't on PS3, except maybe Forza 2 which is crap anyway.
Gears of War Viva Piniata Forza 2 Bioshock PGR3/4 Halo3 Mass Effect Ace Combat 6 plus a load of live arcade games. A few nice exlusives coming out on the run up to xmas as well (Gears of War 2, Fable 2, Viva Piniata 2, Banjo-Kazooie, Splinter Cell Conviction, and of course extra GTA4 content) :) What has the PS3 got in the pipeline? MGS4 (which will be 90% cut-scene and 10% game). Can't think of anything else offhand... I still think your PS3 is buggered - mine never makes a fan noise and it sits inside a closed unit (although I open the door when playing PS3 or 360), still can't hear the PS3 though - 360 sounds like a concorde!! :D Personal choice, the black PS3 looks ace inside my Alphason cabinet, the white 360 looks silly. 360 shape is nice though IMO. According to all the cinema magazines it always gets 5/5 as a BR player, especially as you get a console as a bonus. You do seem a little blinkered towards the Sony brand. Sure it's a great machine, but not perfect by any means, and it certainly hasn't demonstrated itself to be superior to the 360 so far (in fact apart from the blu-ray, I'd call it inferior as a games machine from what I've experienced so far). |

MS have always said that they didn't expect to "win" this iteration of the console war (they were expecting it to be the 3rd generation before this started to become possible). It's all about market share, and if you compare the 360 to the original xbox, the market share has risen sharply. Sony will have a huge fight on their hands come the next generation... |

True, but the PS2 didn't have such strong competition as the PS3 does now. The Sony electronics division as a whole was a lot more profitable back then as well. Will be interesting to see how this one pans out.

PS3 is probably goign to be the eventual "winner" of this gen (Wii excluded) but not nearly by the margain PS2 was. Asll this is good news for the consumer. With only one downside. I have a feeling it is going to push the development of XBox 3 - I can see it hitting in 2010. 5 year console cycles are not good for wallets :( |
Amen to that. Although, it's always nice to have a new gadget :D

By the way Forza 2 vs GT5 et al.
Forza 2 cracked the "feels right" angle. That is to say, it doesn't matter if something is not entirely realistic, so long as it feel right. Take Nurburgring for example. The Forza rendition of it is far less accurate than GT4, the corners are less harsh than the are in rela life, its not nearly as bumpy. the straights are longer etc. GT4 on the other hand goes for accuracy. But does than make the GT4 eperience better? Not necessarily. Take football games. In FIFA/PES etc, your player will be able to run the length of the pitch in about 5 seconds. This is much much too fast for real life, but because it "feels" right, you accept it. Forza 2 is a stunning game. Absolutely stunning. Why? because they have concentrated on giving an accesible, technical, fun simulation without going to the sometimes too harsh extents of GT. Don't get me wrong, GT with a wheel is without equal. But, Forza 2, on a sofa, with a pad is also without equal. |

PS, None of those games you posted for the 360 are classics really, GOW was average at best, Halo is just pure alien rubbish. ;) |

Not really, I don't own any other Sony stuff, never been a fan of the kit they make but I do like the way the PS3 works. I do enjoy my 360 as well, I just dont like how the PS3 gets such a battering when BOTH consoles have pluses and minuses.

I would say it depends on what your interested in playing. If it`s strategy games etc. Ignore both and get a PC. First person shooters offline but definatly online get a pc ( keyboard mouse will always beat a controller ). In fact the only thing I have my console for is driving games. I have a wheel, it`s in the loft as the wife says it takes up to much room. But if you like ultra track realism buy a PS3 for gt5, or if you just like to arse about in a car, and not bothered whether the track is rendered to an accuracy of 15mm buy a 360 with forza. But for everything else get a PC. I`m waiting until October - Nov until I buy GTAIV. 1280x1024 looks so much better than 1368 x 766.

I seem to recall you slating most of the above at some point too All of the others I enjoyed, and did actually finish most of them (something which rarely happens these days as I usually get bored way before the end). Besides, you are completely missing the point of the original question which was "what exclusives are there for the 360?". Name a similar number for the PS3. I can't think of any that are particularly worth playing so far...

I seem to recall you slating most of the above at some point too Splinter Cell Conviction has been temporarily canned (they found a bug so bad it was a "back to the drawing board" event) MGS4 seems to be getting more critical accliam than GTA4 at the moment. I just wish Sony would do a replacement for a sh!taxis... |
