The old cossies are sh;t!
Mustang gearbox, huge turbo with huge lag and the block of a MK 3 CORTINA (aka 1972 pinto slightly modded)all wrapped up in a saggy old rep motor.
The other problem with the old cossies is the lookalike brigade in 16 ohv`s with `GONE FOR A SPLIFF` stickers in the rear window.
Who wants a car that looks the same as that!

If you want a strong scoob then go for the early RA as the block was designed to handle lots of power, because it was designed before the turbo restrictors in rally cars was introduced.I may be wrong but i think the engine block can handle up to 400 bhp before any mods.
Ive converted mine (94RA) to run full UK spec gearing so ive got motorway friendly gearing and a strong engine.

Talk about boys with toys, I have a european scooby turbo and love it to death and living in Germany where I can use it, You boys and Girls go on about your cars with your 70 MPH spead limit as if they are the muts nuts, At 70 mph a 1 litre nova can break the spead limit so how can you argue the toss between an Escort Cosworth and an impreza? the cosworth for whatever you say about it is a good looking car and so is the Impreza, but I wanted an Escort Cossie B4 I had even heard about Subaru, the problem was I could not afford a cosworth. In my honest opinion both cars are as good as each other in there own right, but then again there will always be rivalry between owners, like my 168hp Ducati 996 is faster than your GXS750 Suzuki, but who gives a $h1t as long as we all enjoy our vehicles for what they are.

yours waiting for a flaming reply,

Steve

The trouble is with most on this forum is that they are to `Politically correct`.
We all go on about power and speed but as soon as you mention the word top speed or `race` you get jumped on.
