We had a similar scrape on the bumper of my wife's car a few years ago and paid around £200 for it to be rubbed down and resprayed. This was at an independent bodyshop that was recommended to me by a friend. The repair was topnotch and still looked perfect a couple of years later when we sold it.

To those recommending taking it to a Subaru dealer - don't they just outsource the work to a bodyshop as they don't usually have their own paint facilities? This has certainly been my experience...

thanks again to all those that have replied with constructive comments...

i dont want to stir up bad blood on the forum but im a bit p*ssed off with all the 'holier than thou' and 'what if it was you?' posts as all i wanted was some rough estimates...

i can tell that if it was me and whoever did it had the common decency to admit it, then id be more than willing to be reasonable and come to whatever compromise i could, just like the guy whos car it is is being...

but then again, i shouldve expected a deluge of opinion on here...

The bottom line is if the quote included a new bumper or not. And that is one of the main items taht influences the cost.

Some places will replace as a matter of default as they can distort and fixings for clips or brackets can crack or break off.
