222, I have the same dilemma at the moment. I had an S2000 for a year and a half and thinking of changing back to VTEC again.

Ive never been a huge roof down fan (it is quite fun, and handy) so if that's not the biggest draw of the car then a DC5 is really worth a look IMO.

It looks great for a start, very light and the I Vtec is probably a better engine that the F20C in the S2000.

The redline is lower at 8400, as opposed to 8900 but I think it may develop more torque, and has less drivetrain loss so it wille easily stick with an S2000.

Tempting...

I must admit that I do miss the roof down thing quite a lot. It's just such a nice feeling to be 'outside' but within your car on nice days. As someone who works in an office most of the day and plays a lot of online poker at night it was also welcomed fresh air for me!

Thats the trouble with blokes and cars, cannot admit that they arent Ayrton Senna, if they crash it was the cars fault, the camber, the weather or if you own a Gallardo some old lady in aCIvic getting in the way of your heroic flat out sprint between sets of lights showing off to schoolgirls.

A lot of modern cars are like computer games, 4wd and electronics that allow you to go really quick and pull you out of the poo, fairly unobtrusively so you feel like its your driving and therefore that makes you a hero. Most front wheel drive stuff is set to plough on if you overdo it, hence why so many 205s ended up bent.

Now dont get me wrong, I am no driving god, I enjoy it, understand the concepts and know my limitations. Trouble is people watch Top Gear and read Evo which talk about pretty advanced driving, usually in open places, by good drivers and it doenst transalate very well to average (or worse) drivers on the road.

Hence why an S2000, though it isnt designed specifically to throw you off the road, will do if you are clumsy or stupid, like the girl at work who bought one a few years back, I mentioned about it being RWD and she said, 'whats that mean', she didnt stuff it but then I think the Vtec never got used (maybe once, then brown pants) which is fine, but on here we get carried away with it perhaps in the pursuit of a good thread.

I realised my lack of skill and control in a 1990 Turbo Supra on Budget tyres on a wet road, thefooker just wouldnt go in a straight line, much to the surprise of the oncoming traffic !

Get an S2000, get some practice/tuition in an open space, then enjoy.

Can you guys live without the torque?
It's the one thing that keeps worrying me everytime I think of getting an S2K!
I've driven one and even though I owned a 2.2 VTI Prelude at the time I still found it hard work. VTEC is so peaky!
Having said all this yet again I find myself comtemplating one!

Easy, got a 310bhp STI 5 right now which isn't lacking in torque and I could easily go back. I get just as frustraited at the STI running out of puff as I ever did having to drop a cog for more progress :)

This is what im worrying about!

I went from an STi5 such as Kenny has got, and went to the S2000 with no bother. This time I will be stepping down a bigger level. Having 360 lbs ft torque and potentially losing 200 odd lbs ft and 140 bhp is scaring me.

Took the Evo out today and just obliterated everything in my way, roads included.

Its going to hurt me!

Americans, meat head Supra drivers or paranoid motorway merchants will tell you that you need 7000 rpm to get the S2000 out of the drive way.

It picks up speed well in any gear, it just wont give you a surge of artificial torque like a turbo car would. If you dont like down shifting and using the revs to make most of the cars performance from your Prelude, then I dont think the S2000 will suit you.

It's an old fashioned sports car, you have to get involved to get the most out of it.
