I don't mean spool up lag - I mean the throttle response even when you're already on boost. Air doesn't travel infinitely fast - add nearly 10ft of pipework between turbo and intake, and you'll get a slightly reduced throttle response - fact. Peole that don't understand this should try driving a car on throttle bodies - instant response. As I said though, only slightly reduced and not enough to mitigate against the postential gains

You would need the filter to go on the end of the CAK. K+N about £40 max. or Apexi £25 Also a dump valve as your existing flanged DV needs a flange adaptor or STi3/4 type. Fitting a smaller battery makes installation easier. ie. Same amp/hr battery but smaller housing. Cost is about £35.
Kit is £400 delivered, it all fits well, looks really smart.
You will need a remap after fitting the FMIC.

That sounds like a mighty fine price for a top bit of kit. :thumb:

How much fitted . And were are you based.

Gaz7612 17 December 2006 08:29 PM

Harveys Based in Darlington.
Might be best dropping Harvey an e-mail about fittting

Would that "appear" to look lower in a bugeye front, not sure how different the gaps in the bumpers are, if at all?

harvey 19 December 2006 07:45 PM

The point is Cookie that it is not below the bottom of the bumper/splitter bottom surface.

Harvey, this would appear to have had a modified bumper beam though, mine sits lower than that as the bumper beam is still in tact.

Have you come across a properly engineered solution to that issue?

pic of the way mine sits compared to the one you posted...

I'm running a healthy 355bhp on an APS top mount!! While at Powerstation they saw peaks over 360bhp but we pulled it back as it was peaking at 1.43 bar.

Note at Powerstation they couldn't believe how good the car was breathing, etc. What do I have?

1) Brought car 18 months ago with PPP (so upgrade fuel pump)
2) Got 3" full decat Miltek - Done at Powerstation
3) APS Top mount I/C - Done at WRC
4) APS cold airfeed - WRC
5) Changed the I/C spray to automatic using Turbobits
6) Remapped by Powerstation (best map I've had). Peaks below 1.4bar also fixed boost creep by slightly tweaking the wastegate
7) Handling stage two at Powerstation
8) Upgraded to AP 6 pot brakes, 355 disc, braided hoses and 2500 disc pads - fitted by Scoobyclinic (but won and new off ebay)
9) Cold Air duct to induction kit (scoobyclinic)

I will be doing my own mapping from now on (just completing some training) have worked for some of the major car manufacturers, am an IT consultant so fine with a PC and will save myself a few bob in the future.

So I would stay with the Top mount for now and upgrade elsewhere. Mines a UK STI MY53

dynamix 23 December 2006 06:34 AM

Cookie - have a word with Zak to see what he suggests. I would be suprised if he recommended a FMIC tbh as the std STI TMIC is pretty good.

YHPM Harvey

WRX_Rich 23 December 2006 01:56 PM

Very impressive :norty: However, I'm also running a sports cat to keep things legal. Also this for me is stage one with a bigger turbo going on next year :norty: :norty: Also, it's worth noting the differences in charge temp between FMIC and topmount once you've been stood in traffic for a while or under long duration wide open throttle

Wish you luck in your mapping venture. I'll be staying with Bob Rawle though who has made the car absolutely fantastic to drive :notworthy

heat soak was terrible and once it got hot it stayed hot - im sure there was a thread on here recently with facts and figures showing just the same

it did look nice but as a performance mod I wish i stuck to a STI Top mount - forget that i wish i just went strieght to the APS FMIC

MartynJ 23 December 2006 07:56 PM

Have fitted one of the Hybrids too....Very nice quality , and is pulling 358/335 on a 2004 UK WRX with a VF34...

Liking the look of that :) hmmm got me thinking now ;)

Neilo 23 December 2006 09:35 PM

looks like you need to have a JDM bumper beam to fit it like that though, otherwise it will look like mine...

Does that mean swopping the bumper also, or just the beam, surely thats not a huge job
