Default Opinions please, Front mount on newage

Been looking at this front mount, I know it not "cheap" but i thought they were more than this.

Also does anyone know if this is the one that sits really low and looks a bit cack really?

Flat4online I have heard good things before about them, anyone had any direct dealing with them.

Cheers

Cookie

Below 350 odd BHP I'd stick with an STi Top Mount

Have used Flat four online a few times, no problems I can think of. With regards to the FMIC it all depends how far you want to go, A FMIC was the first mod I did as driving round Cyprus it was of benefit I have not noticed any increase in lag but i have been driving it for 4 years with a FMIC fitted. If you are thinking of going big then it is worth doing if just doing a few tweaks save your money and keep the TMIC.

Will be aiming for nearly 350 with planned stuff, but more to come in the future, so might be worth getting ready for it.

Plus they look lovely

But have seen some newage front mount kits that sit too low in the fron bumper and done really look that well

Redragon

Re the FMIC thread in Drivetrain....I think Butty sums it all up by saying why bother with a FMIC if you can swap the WRX TMIC for the STi TMIC and take it to 350 BHP anyway !!

I ran my 02 bugeye at 325BHP on a STi top mount......mapped pretty conservatively by Bob Rawle as it was nearly new at the time and I still had 4 years on the car loan to run !! I still don't own the car till next year !!

STi TMIC cheap as chips second hand and can even be swapped in a pub car park (mine was in the end LOL)

Cookie....... if you are going to look at 400 BHP then I'd buy once, (is the adage buy cheap and buy twice).

I run an APS FMIC, as does Ninnybobs and I wonder what WRX Rich runs ?

Agreed with Shaun,

IIRC, I was still running an STI TMIC up to 368bhp.

I have an APS FMIC and the extra lag drives me barmy.

I have even considered going back to the TMIC with added Nitrous cooling

Good point, about buying cheap.

Just need to know if a front mount off 03 STI will fit mine

You mention the added lag, does this mean though that when boost kicks in in kicks in harder?

I think that lag is only the time it takes to come on boost; nothing to do with how much boost there is.

i was running nearly 310 on wrx tmic b4 the fmic was fitted so yes they are good for that power the bhp gain is not that great but having it fitted has made the bhp loss coz of heatsoak minimal as for lag if the mapper knows his stuff it will be minimal.. all in all imo well worth the cost and im happier with the drive now than b4

redragon.......just to clarify, you were running 310 on the OEM WRX top mount

Hi Martin...*cough* methanol

Cookie...you don't need to worry about lag (the time it takes to pressurise the inlet tract after the turbo) the mapper can sort this !!

Even at 320 bhp you will find the STi top mount lacking with spiritted driving.
Ask lunartic for some photos of his installation. VERY tidy and the mesh he has added has really made it look O/E.

This is the hybrid front mount on mine. I've also fitted some open weave stainless steel mesh to keep out bigger stones etc while maintaining maximum cooling. It is slightly more laggy, but the differences are small. More importantly, once the car's moving, I've yet to see the charge intake temp rise more than 5C above ambient no matter how hard it's driven. I'm sure this has helped me to achieve 350bhp on a standard VF35 turbo

Cookie: YHM. Feel free to post any of it on here. Lunar tick can give you a fist hand account of how tidy it is or otherwise.

Lag with a front mount!!! are you sure. I think you'd find it hard to notice any difference.

There must be some but it is so small an addition over what was there before, personally my **** is not that sensative and I would agree with Mark.

New Age FMIC is complete with cold air kit.
You would need the filter to go on the end of the CAK. K+N about £40 max. or Apexi £25 Also a dump valve as your existing flanged DV needs a flange adaptor or STi3/4 type. Fitting a smaller battery makes installation easier. ie. Same amp/hr battery but smaller housing. Cost is about £35.
Kit is £400 delivered, it all fits well, looks really smart.
You will need a remap after fitting the FMIC.

That sounds like a mighty fine price for a top bit of kit.
