Masses if poles, but they all seem to work and be law abiding.

Many Africans don't seem to want to pay tax, insurance or bother with driving licences.

maybe due to the fact in their own countires laws are just not in place like they are here. lets face it in economically disfunctional countries from europe and africa which are still developing, many people vreak the law and get away with things like insurance and taxes etc. but thats not too say as its not tackled there its not gonna be tackled here. a steep learning curve for some is awaiting.

a friend of mine called gert (nice south african fellow) said to me that in south africa, car insurance isnt even required. if you crash, you pay, you dont pay you go to jail. pretty simple and i believe every word of it lol.

Insurance companies from countries inside the EU have to provide the minimum insurance cover required in all other EU countries if you take the car there. I was in france for a few months this winter rang up the insurance company and they said as I only wanted third party cover (cheap as chips rover) I didn't have to inform them or get a green card.

A lot of people in France had brit registered cars on French insurance (insured off the V.I.N. number i think?) and just brought them back to the UK for MOT etc.

So as most of the the Polish and Latvian cars have only been here for less than a year I presume they are trying their luck under this rule.

they should all go back to their own country and alot of our countrys problems will then be sorted!

It is in the interest of the foreign worker to have the car registered in the UK so there is a record of it, meaning their name is linked to it so they don't get arrested when stopped and unable to prove who they are.

It's about time the powers were given to police to keep uninsured people off the roads, regrdless of where they are from.

Our cars are now fitted with computers that say what insurance cars have, who with, whose allowed to drive it, what level of cover the car has, what sort of licence the driver has, what points he/she has. why they have points - just about eveything along with their criminal record and where they live.

and if they support his teflonship?? results from the dna datbase? etc,

so would any of this data influence the outcome of a stop??

we should adopt the german system, whereby the car is insured not the driver, that way there is no issue if he/she has insurance

ps prehaps if the scammy ins co,s didnt have such stupid premiums then prehaps there wouldnt be such epidemic non insurance about....

my 1300cc car only cost me £80 TPFT back in the 80,s and i was only 17..

There is a flaw here, if a car is here and its local (non uk ins runs out) then they should re ins.. it via there local (non UK) insurance co, bet they queue up to do that ;)

and they cant ins it here as its not got uk plates......

i thought they were all legally obliged to get the plates changed after a certain period of time, or are they exploiting the (visitor) loophole?
