'positive discrimination'

Either its wrong to give jobs to people based on the colour of their skin/ethnic background or its not. It cant be right "if I says its OK in some circumstances"

My father God rest his soul knew very little English so was probably none the wiser. He had other things on his mind like doing sixteen hour shifts at the textile factory.

Positive discrimination is a very short sighted and wrong policy. It will always upset the non ethnic population and cause bad feeling.

Only seven days a week? When I were a lad we had to work 8 days a week and we had to live in a box! ;)

Not only Les - some of the ethnics would also get upset. I've worked damned hard to 'get where I am today' i.e. despite rather than because of my ethnic background. No mollycoddling necessary or welcomed in my corner.

Glad to hear it Suresh, and you deserve congratulations for your attitude in this respect
