I'm going up there to look at a UK STI. Just hoping their Sales are decent and are willing to strike up a deal. Can't be fooked if it's "that's the price, take or leave it" attitudes from a lot of the Dealer networks.

Bought a MY00 for £16500 from Holland. Was looking at the blobeye a year later (car was being serviced) and AF Nobles told me they would only give me £14000 as the car was an import. Had it been a UK car they would have offered £15500-16000 (they said). I nearly laughed my head off (I wasnt trying to negotiate, so Im sure I could have pushed for more). Still... a loss of £2500 in a year is remarkably low for a full years driving (especially compared to the fact that if it had been a UK car the loss would have been £5000), so Im definitely in the pro import boat. also worth pointing out is that they r not dead against test drives in all fairness to them, but that place attracts some weird and wonderful boy racers which im sure pissed them off at some stage, hence the no-test drive policy. I actually had 3 test drives the day my finance went through, but chose the sti over the ra - sti, on andys advice and based on the looks also.

Andy Napier must of been away a few months or more i think when i bought the Jdm sti in November 2005 .I asked Andy N a few questions before i bought the car .He was working at Awd and still is .I go there for servicing ie for the classic i had and know the Jdm STI

where do you live mate, im in aberdeen i deal with brian downie in kemney. top bloke and realy knows his ****!!!!! he can get you anything he is an authorised subaru distributor/dealer can get you anything and everything! brand new zero mile just of the factory floor loaded with extras if you wish, do you want his number?

Just to stick my 2P in .. I've just bought a Forester STi from Litchfields. He gave me a good trade in price for my car (local Scoob dealer) and the new car is spot on.
I'm in Aberdeen. (OK I took a day off) but it cost me about 60 quid in fuel to go down at night, £58 for a Travelodge overnight, and then one fill up on the way home (car came with full tank of fuel). So overall under £200 quid to pick it up. OK a few hours driving but it's well worth it for a properly maintained, UK remapped car bought from a Scooby enthusiast and not some uninterested dealer. I've have no hesistation going back. It's just a road trip, you love driving, you love Scoobies, where's the problem :cool: Avalyn. |
I agree with u Avalyn. I would travel for the right car.
A lot of importers r more interested in making profit, which if u look at the price the cars come in at, is quite greedy! Ther are penty of reputable importers in the uk. Just a case of shopping around. |
brian downie is very reputable and absolute scoob enthusiast and aint just a dealer he builds monsters to and only sells the best of what he can get his hands on, he knows alot more than most dealers. if you want a good car trust me go to him!!! he looks after his customers very well and offers a great service.

Drewzer's right about Brian Downie. He lives and breathes Subaru's just loves them. His attention to detail is second to none, fixed things on my Sti that Powerstation in Cheltenham couldnt. Top bloke, great service.

I found this thread due to me looking at the MY05 JDM STI Dicksons have in at the moment. Looks like the general consensus is stay well clear!

I have been looking for a STI for about 6 Months now and have tried to keep it local and in Scotland, i have e-maile numerous Scottish companies, MVM in Cairney hill, Dicksons of Dunblane, but to name a few and not many even bothered to get back to me!!!!!. i was only asking about their cars and nothing to taxing either!!!!!!. So now ever since i joined SN i have heard nothing but good things about Iain Litchfield and have put a deposit down on the MY04 Spec C on his website without seeing the car, i am looking forward to going down and picking it up(if it all works out) and dont mind travelling. My point is that this could have been a sale for a scottish firm and instead i have to travel from Motherwell to wiltshire to get the service we should all expect from our local car people. the only other thing worrying me is who is going to service it?????????. Been to a few in Murderwell and Hamilton, no worse than my local in Ardrossan, feels like home and most of the locals are friendly.
Was down at Strathclyde Park for a walk today,very nice. Is there a Local Scooby meet near here??? or is it the Ayrshire one, need somewhere to take the Scoob if i get it. Mac |

hi, I too had to travel - Scottish dealers overpriced and unhelpful, although S&S were ok when I've previously enquired/viewed. Noble were none to pleased when after giving me a 24hr STi (brand spankin)test drive I walked in and said Nah! not really for me - it was just to pricey at the time.(2005) Anyway 2 and a half years after starting to look - next week should see me in receipt of said machinery. I have given up on Scottish dealers, my last purchase last year was a BMW, saw exact model from Fairbairns Giffnock but 2.5k dearer than Birmingham + they had free hard top retail 1.5k. Tried to reason with them up here but to no avail - a few emails and one trip later BM now lives in Scotland. Just headed to Derby on Saturday morn before 6am, got down there just as they opened - actually originally went to see a car in Sheffield(had already paid deposit but at the eleventh hour discovered it was a parallel import with no euro warranty) but thought I would do a few viewings - 10 mins after arriving had got a discount and shook on it!! Now I'll fly down a week tomorrow for £30, they'll pick me up from the airport and I'll drive her sedately home. Looking forward to maybe meeting up with some guys through the SIDC, just signed up today. Also planning on going to Scooby Live for a look - you thought about it? Have been in the point, but not the war office, also have been in the Eagle a couple of times as that is local to me???
I live just over the level crossing at the new houses at Motherwell Bridge. BADABAZ-If all goes well i would not be picking the car up till end of May anyway, not sure exactly when!!!, would love to go,but if i dont i will defo be going to the NBO at Ripon. Mac |
