It would be classed as gross misconduct and you'd be immediately sacked in most instances.

I got drafted in to help a department that was struggeling, so i went with a colleague to visit the supervisor in question, and kick off some recovery planning.

the guy i had to deal with was / is a w*nker, and i didnt like him, mind you not many people did,

anyway differances aside, the old proffesionalism takes over and i went to do my job,

he was talking to the office assistant when i and another engineer went in. he looked up and i started to explain why we were there,

his answer

"fu*k off im having a meeting"

|I just turned to the other engineer, and said "i,m not being spoken to like that, were here to dig him out of the mire, he can explain to my director, what his problem is"

and with that i walked out,

the other enginer didnt know what to say, and was trying to distance himself,

I dropped into my director's office on the way back and let him know he would be getting a visit,

i then let my other engineer know, as he had to do the same as me with the other team, he agreed the bloke was a w*nker and said dont worry, he,s not liked by anyone..

Sure enough about 10mins later this guy comes in and trys to appologise, but my boss had seen him comming, he hadnt got the word out of his mouth, before he was called into my bosses office,

he didnt speak to me for days afterwards.. :thumb: that was a result in its self!!!

ive put the phone down on customers who have told me repeatedly to f*ck off in a conversation, i gave him a warning that regardless of how he felt, swearing at me wouldnt help the situation, he still carried on, so i hung up,

he called my boss to complain,, and my boss told him the same too.

when i did finally meet the guy, about 6 months later, ( in mexico) he was very appologetic...

good call, on that fact, now lets fill in the missing pieces..

the table was attached to a packer unit which had jammed, to remove the jammed unit, the table needed to be moved.... the unit was under pressure, which once the table was removed, would then fire the contents of the jammed packer at the person stood in front. With a major risk of injury...

when the maintenace guy was asked what would he have done.....

his answer, kicked the table out of the way, its the only safe way to do it....

i got canned, because i wasnt authorised to move the table?

had he started work???

if he hadnt clocked in i,d say he had fair reason to say it,

given your "everdays a confrontation with customers day" at stickymikeys, id say you have a problem with how to manage your workforce...
