Well a standard uk engine is either 208 or 215bhp. You say MY99 so 215bhp

You say you have 266bhp at the wheels. To me that isnt a standard uk engine.

Are you saying by bolting on mods and not touching internals your engine is still standard?

Aztec Performance Ltd 24 January 2006 02:09 PM

lol...

I think your confusing standard car with standard engine.

16vmarc 24 January 2006 02:10 PM

Maybe amybe not.

Theres no uk engine that has 266bhp at the wheels though ;)

Aztec Performance Ltd 24 January 2006 02:14 PM

are you feeling ok today?

16vmarc 24 January 2006 02:15 PM

I think you need to explain!

Is this true ? Shirley they must have updated it by now with a more recent car ??

A standard car is a car that has not been modified.

A standard engine is a engine that has not been modified.

A standard engine with a change of turbo etc remains a standard engine.

Modifying the engine would involve changing things like pistons, rods, blocks, heads, valvetrains etc...

My engine is exactly the same as the day it left the Subaru factory.

16vmarc 24 January 2006 02:29 PM

So i was rightby saying bolt on mods then

Aztec Performance Ltd 24 January 2006 02:31 PM

Correct. Bolt on mods don't mean a modified engine.

wow that was a bit long winded lol,
so after explaining what a standard engine is do you mind telling me what mods you did do to get it that that BHP.

RobHardy 24 January 2006 07:19 PM

YAWN. just say about 5.7 seconds to 60, and 15.5 to 100. near enough. thats for about 215bhp on a my99

:nono: :iamwithst

So are your quoted figures for mine?

I assume they are for a standard MY99 (215) in which case your figures are incorrect. :hjtwofing

So once the wheels stop spinning, my 216 bhp Octavia vRS should, allowing for less transmission losses, be that fast? In my dreams :Whatever_

RobHardy 24 January 2006 08:09 PM

actually it wouldnt be that far off. a civic type r is 16.4 seconds 0-100 with a similar power to weight, and less torque.

T6UNE 24 January 2006 08:16 PM

a civic type R is slower to 60, depending on what year it is, its eather 6.8 or 6.5 book times

That's encouraging - the car is due for a sports cat, Supersprint exhaust and altered map on Saturday. Hope to get around 240 bhp. Will then stalk CTR's :norty::norty:

T6UNE 24 January 2006 09:45 PM

the wheels must spin like nobodys buisness in the wet, the standard one is bad enough!

1) Is name-calling really called for?
2) I'd argue that he's altered ancillaries not the engine itself

My P1 was also pretty quick, my current car the 01 wrx is painfully slow, but hope that will change with the remap today :)

Where are you getting it remapped and how much if Iam not being to nosey
