:D :D

Pick it up at 11:00 Friday, then need to be home to load suitcases, and then at Lakeside for my 'pre meet' at 5pm

So, if your around could meet you at Lakeside services on Friday between 5 - 5:30, but you will probably still be at work :(

Well since I was 17 (1997) The list goes:-

Mini 1.0L
Pug 306 1.4XL
Pug 306 2.0XSi
Ford Escort Si (New Shape)
Ford Escort GTi (New Shape)
Subaru Impreza 2000 (1994 - L)
Land Rover Defender 90 (Complete with Orange Lights)
VW Golf GTDi
Land Rover Discovery V8 (1994 - L)
Range Rover V8 (1997 - R)
Subaru Impreza Sti (2002)
VW Golf 1.4 (1992 - J)
BMW M3 (2003)
BMW M3 CSL (2004)
Porsche 911 Turbo (2003)

So, what's next? Tough one, I'm not into my track driving enough to justify a GT3 or other crazy track toy. I just spend so much more of my time on roads. The New Aston looks tempting, my dad used to have an Astin and I always loved that.

My G/F wants a Mini Cooper S convertable, so that will probably be next :D

Ferrari and Lambo is abit to extreme for me, but you never know :norty: :p

fromage 09 August 2005 11:55 AM

Have you checked to see if the 911 will fit in your garage ? lol

How the hell do you get insurance at 25 on a 996 turbo? Things must have changed as insurance when I was 25 was a joke for anything remotely fast even with 8 years experience and ncb. Very nice position to be in so young though!

Hammoc 09 August 2005 11:07 PM

That looks the b*llox :thumb: Looks like I missed out on a ride in the CSL :( I guess a ride in a 996 TT will make up for it.

Enjoy the 'ring and see you around.

Chris

I guess because it's just been one performance car after the other.

It's £1428.00 - Elephant.co.uk, Fully Comp, £350 Excess, 12k a Year, Garaged.

Nevetas 10 August 2005 10:37 AM

Think 5:30 seems safe as traffic may be heavy

fromage 10 August 2005 10:39 AM

May see you there but A13 is usually solid heading that way at 5:00 so may just miss you

Nevetas 10 August 2005 10:42 AM

No offence steve but I think that was a stupid decision.

A bloody automatic 911 turbo.

It was a crime that it was ever created and its a bigger crime that a "petrolhead" has bought one.

I hope you enjoy it, but I have lost all respect for your opinion where cars are concerned. :(

Nevetas 10 August 2005 04:28 PM

Thats a rather strange reply!

I go through cars quicker than you change your socks, and this is just another one for me to try.

I spend most of my time these days touring Europe, an imo the turbo has enough power to cope with tiptronic S.

Whether I will settle down with it, or sell the car after 3 weeks remains to be seen, but to say you have lost all respect on my opinion where cars are concerned is slightly harsh!

I taken it you have driven a tiptronic s 911 Turbo?

Adam M 10 August 2005 04:34 PM

funnily enough I have, and I have also driven the manual.

auto boxes are not tools that should be present on drivers car. When you fit an auto to a 911 it ceases to eb a drivers car and becomes a fast posers mobile.

A CSL however is a true drivers car.

I know you travel europe a lot, but with that much torque you have the flexibility to lchoose a gear and leave it.

The standard clutch on the manual 996TT is not so harsh that it makes for an uncomfortable drive in traffic, so I just don't see the point of settling for an auto, unless we are talking a 5 figure price difference.

Sorry to sound harsh steve, but in this situation, I hope you change it soon. Autos really are for old men, torque converters waste serious amounts of power, and they even cost you fuel consumption, all because some drivers are too lazy to change gear.

Changing gear is part of real driving, and it is something that driving enthusiasts want to do, not try to avoid.
