I bought it brand new. Im in Ireland though, he reckond it was a GSR, but it has two cats on it, diff front number plate, so I told him it was a 260 (see theres only 10 evo 8's brought in here new for sale) lots of 6 and 7 imports around but id have one of very few 8's new. They just calling them Evo 8s over here.
spec sheet said 278 bhp also.

I love the evo's... howerver the MR is just out of my price range.
As the evo 260 is £19,995 + 3 yrs service etc.. do you think they would give me the larger spoiler instead??

what kinda deals are on at this moment in time??

I cant wait and Im dreading it:) .......cant wait to see what it has in it..........and dreading the thought of finding out is has less than I hope.......so as a bench mark for my level of disapointment, Im hoping for it to have 280bhp.
my mates coming with his scoob, sti v.5, with full decat.....should be good fun on the back roads on the way down.......I reckon hell get somewhere between 290 and 300. wont make a bit of diff on the road though we will be as quick as each other, im sure. I used to pull about two lenghts on him in my 6...well see now.:norty:

ProdriveSTI 16 December 2004 12:30 PM

sounds like a good day out!!!
Most Evo's on the MLR say the 260 is approx 280 + tho a few have been spot on at 261bhp .
However if yrs is still new with only a few 000's miles engine might still be tight.
Best of luck

re

Theyve allready got 330 bhp upgrades on offer for the 260........

http://www.wrc-tech.co.uk/evo-shop-7-8-performance.htm

All I need then is the ECU and the down pipe.....with my own bits :)

The problem with that is the fact that your left with a hole in the middle of your boot where the EVO 260 central spoiler mounting was....

I'm going to leave the spoiler as original , had enough of high spoilers with the P1 ;)

Also the cars are sooooooo tight till they run in and loosen up.......i have mine now at @ 3,500 miles or so..........cat out, induction kit........and its a completely different car, comes in hard and early and pulls straight through to the rev limiter, I doubt I would be able to shake it off in my old 320 bhp Evo 6.

Which exhaust/induction did you fit..... did you do 1,000miles or so before altering anything??

Done 2,500 miles first before I touched anything. APEXi induction kit from RC and Magnex from Ralliart / Extreme.

Im on my second evo now, had two wrx's before over the years........you just get used to it, and its feck all more than running the Scoob, bar petrol is heavier.........its worth it though.........people blow it way out of proportion.

richs2891 17 December 2004 12:43 PM

Does anyone know of any euro importers of the Mitsh 260 Evo ?

thanks

Richard

jason4656 17 December 2004 12:49 PM

27,000miles of servicing equates to about £1,800.00 from a main dealer

www.btrprep.com I've used them for 2 years with my 5GSR, main dealers are much more expensive generally.

Dr Evo 20 December 2004 12:53 PM

Car made 262 bhp with 365 torque.....he said the engine was still tight and needed to be run in more still (4k on it).............that bloody big cat on it.....

Ah well ........about to order full APS exhaust system from turbo back (doing away with all cats) and an upgraded ecu. SHould have about 320 to 330 when I get it up and running.

looking forward to that:)

DBY 20 December 2004 02:46 PM

Dr Evo i have a few questions if you dont mind.

1. What number is your car ? - the reason I ask is that whilst looking at the 260 (which i eventually bought) the sales guy said that the later ones were producing at least 277BHP. He went on to say that some of the earliers ones HAD come with lower power outputs (not less than 260 BHP) but now more time was being spent on factory mapping. Now I just though yeh, yeh, sales B.S. - but I now wonder if there is any truth in what he was saying ? (mines #0715 BTW). He really did seam to know alot about the 260 - the exact differences between it and the MR, and lots of other little bits that sales guys dont normally know.

2. Do you know what you car made at the wheels ? That the more accurate figure to use when comparing. Whos were the rollers (PE, Star, etc ?)

3. Out of interest what did your mates classic make ?

Cheers Andy

will check at the wheels figure later and post tomorrow
Thanks.
Im not too pushed, once i get the straight through Catless exhaust and the new ecu shell be as quick as any of the high spec models.
