Stef,

ner ner ner ner ner ner scooby scooby scooby
Does it have a little blade that flips out of the front or an ejector seat.

Will we be seeing a range of 555 utility belts too?

Neil Smalley 24 July 2000 08:06 AM

Just found a website with a full 3/4 view of the new Impreza

Josh L 24 July 2000 08:14 AM

Ooooooooooo!

Bitchy!

Just wait. You'll see it by the end of the week!

blubs 24 July 2000 08:18 AM

Stef 24 July 2000 11:00 PM

That's it!!!
Nice one blubs, how the hell did you find that? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
Seriously, I reckon the flared arches are intended to give it a coupe appearance. Not many cars have flared arches going that far into the rear doors.
Definite hints of Skyline, which is probably a good thing. I'm looking forward to seeing a fully spoilered version.
I guesss all will soon be revealed. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Stef.

Neil Smalley 25 July 2000 12:21 AM

Hmm it's got elements of the porsche 911, toyota corrola, new VW beetle and a little bit of skyline. I'm sure they've re-used the
front spoiler from the current model. No orange flecks that I can see though http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

It needs some bonnet ducts and a darker colour I think.

Gary Foster 25 July 2000 12:31 AM

Har Har !

I can't believe it's going to be THAT ugly.

Nope I don't believe it, it's got to be a joke, there's no way they would be stupid enough to release that thing.

PaulL 25 July 2000 12:37 AM

...and there I was, thinking of upgrading to a new shape Scooby...

(If this is for real) Thanks Subaru, you've saved me some dosh!

Buf 25 July 2000 12:40 AM

Here it is in it's glory......
http://www.whatcar.co.uk/Magazine/Ar...impreza200.jpg

hmmmmmm.....

blubs 25 July 2000 08:57 AM

Stef,

He he...believe me, I think I surfed the entire universe for that picture http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Agreed though, anything that looks a bit 'Skyliney' will get my vote.

Does anyone know what date the motorshow is? Apparently Subaru will be revealing some details regarding the new model during the show, (according to my dealer).

C'mon hurry up!!!! I've had mine 18 months and I want a new one!!!

Josh L 25 July 2000 10:09 AM

Sadly, from the point of view of my Dutch friends, you will see a full set of what like half inched publicity pix of a Red 2001 in Autocar this week.

As far as a Motorshow launch is concerned, the car will now be unveiled in Tokyo next month, much to the distress of IM I should think.

PaulMc 25 July 2000 10:51 AM

Doesn't look good gents!! Check it out...

jbryant 25 July 2000 11:57 AM

If you've already got a Scoob, then I'm sure it looks really good. Keeps the prices up on your cars...

harryh 25 July 2000 01:35 PM

Maybe it's a Japanese thing, but that is one UGLY car. A previous post mentioned that it had elements of a "porsche 911, toyota corrola, new VW beetle and a little bit of skyline", now I see why these elements were on different cars, look what happens when you put them all together on the same car http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif I reckon even it's mother would have trouble loving it. Perhaps it looks better from a different angle. Still it should help keep the value of existing models from slipping too much.

elondan 25 July 2000 01:47 PM

It's hard to say how the car looks, you can't see the 17 inch wheels and the wheel archs, also the front headlamp is big and in this picture it looks even bigger and without any proportion to the car (it looks bigger than the front windshield). http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/tongue.gif
I hope when I see the whole thing I'll fall in love, I kept my MY95 for so long just for the new Scoob, or maybe I should get me a MY00 http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/confused.gif.

Rob Walker 25 July 2000 01:54 PM

Now we know what happened to all the headlights that Ford had left over when they scrapped the Scorpio.....

elondan 25 July 2000 02:37 PM

I'm asking all you "Autocar" subscribers to scan the pictures to this site when you get your hands on tomorrows issue for all of us living abroad.
Maybe in the rest of the pictures the car looks cool, with its wheel archs and 17 inch wheels? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

Marco555 25 July 2000 07:10 PM

I still like my old scooby!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
On the Dutch BBS is also a great discussion going on.

SWOLL 25 July 2000 08:26 PM

You can't really tell enough from the photo so I'll reserve judgement. I shouldn't worry too much anyway as I didn't think the joy of Impreza ownership was anything to do with the looks anyway, or we would all be buying audis etc.

N Thompson 25 July 2000 08:48 PM

Marco555 26 July 2000 07:10 AM

Pardon me Swoll, but i'm not buying a car when i don't like the looks off it!!
I agree that pictures doesn't say anything, because when you look at pictures off the old model you also didn't say oee and aaa.
The color means a lot too!!!

Geezer 26 July 2000 09:31 AM

C'mon guys, are you really telling me that you bought your Imprezas for it's looks? It's butt ugly! The standard car is as dull as dishwater, with a bad '70s interior, and the only reason the Turbo looks half decent is because of the various add ons it has, whic, incidentally, if you saw them on another car you would laugh out loud at!

The picture of the new car is difficult to appreciate at the moment, because it's a three quarter view from the front. But, hey, even from that angle, it's better looking than the current yeuck!

I'm buying mine for the performance, and I defy anybody on this board to say they bought it for the looks! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

I don't seem to recall anybody saying, "oh, I'm so glad that they finally brought out a performance variant of the Impreza because I can now upgrade from my gorgeous 1600 GL version to the Turbo" ? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Geezer[/quote]

I bought mine for the looks.

Did you know I would say that? I admit that the performance is the main buying reason but I cannot agree that the car is 'butt ugly'.

So there

blubs

Nimbus 26 July 2000 09:54 AM

Sorry guys, but it's starting to grow on me. I think I'm actually starting to like the look of it. From this angle, it does look a bit meaner, and I like the look of the flaired wheel arches. I'll reserve final judgment until I see the thing in full though.

Geezer 26 July 2000 10:00 AM

blubs,
You are rightly entitled to your opinion, my large amorphous friend, but will you at least concede that you are butt ugly? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Geezer http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

SWOLL 26 July 2000 10:07 AM

Marco555,

I agree with you mate, I think people should wait to see the car in the flesh in a much better colour before they pass judgement. I must say though that from the photo's it looks like something Hyundai would make.

I'm much more interested in how it drives compared to the current model than how it looks anyway. When your sitting behind the wheel on your favourite road, looks don't mean a lot.

At the end of the day these sort of cars are never pretty, because thats not the point. I mean look at the EVO6 Extreme, but I know I wouldn't say no if someone offered me one.

blubs 26 July 2000 10:35 AM

Geezer,

I concede that my appearance is somewhat disturbing to young children and cattle.
However, the general public is spared the view of my entire ugliness due to the fact that I have some hair to cover a percentage of my head.

You, my cue ball headed friend, have less hair than a teak sideboard, so your entire terrifying image is clear for all to witness.

blubs (ugly and proud of it)

Diablo 26 July 2000 10:39 AM

Well I like it!

Needs a darker colour though.

D

Marco555 26 July 2000 10:44 AM

I'm also ugly, but the women like me too http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/tongue.gif
The foto off the new Impreza has the frontlook off a Toyota Corolla, and the behindlook off a Hyunday.
I will finaly judge when i see it in real.
