I have seen some video footage of it going past the Grunne Holle at full speed.....I would say it was someway faster than 160mph!

Facts are facts .........Radical SR3 turbo .....production car. Lap time 7 mins 16 seconds. Acheived on second lap the car was on the track. Porsche carerra GT longer than that, so not the champion.

Any times from Supras? Skylines driven by professionals?

don't think they'd be anywhere near tbh. too heavy, not enough power and little downforce. Heck, I'm faster round the track than any supra I've come across in my 190bhp westie and I wouldn't stand a chance against a radical.

Tuned Skylines have been known to go round in the 7:40's.....

At the Porsche GB day 2 weekends ago at Brands; Mr BIg form Porsche said only 1 car remained unsold & that was giving demo laps round Brands........They don't plan to build anymore as they have met their quota.

He did say the figure, but a racing le Mans Porsche went past & I kind of didn't hear anything more for the next 30 minutes. Price was around £347k IIRC

I think I read somewhere that a R34 Skyline did a lap in just under 8mins, oh and incidently, once you've fried 3 sets of the Porches front brakes that last 100K (cough, cough) at £14000 a pop, you can sit back and think how you could almost have bought the westfield. Also, I bet it was a professional driver in the Porsche, driving it to it's limit where most of us would be heading for the scenery, buy the SLR, almost as quick, more stunning sounding and a damn sight safer.

Don't think an XTR2 has been round - they did go but the nice journo popped the engine by wrong gearing it :rolleyes:

Wouldn't be anywhere near as fast as the Radical Turbo though. Probably just under 8 mins? An r500 can do 7.55 so I'd imagine an XTR2 would be there or thereabouts. An XTR2 turbo would be quicker though.

I think the record should have 2 classes - proper production, ie at the very least 100 cars, and modded production. Would be a better guide of achievements.

Radicals are hideously expensive to maintain. Why do you think they are so cheap (relatively) 2nd hand?

I think a production car record should be a car with a run of at least 1000 cars.

Not a run of 3 that can only be road legal in 2 or 3 countries.

My mate was at "The Ring" earlier this year on his Honda VTR1000 SP2 and he's a bit of a nutter......

Anyway....he's flying round the ring, going as fast as he can and gets to this bend..........

Cranks it over and feels cool as fook, like a racer.........notices something to his left and takes a "peek".......

Here's a lass in a BMW M5, overtaking him, sideways, tyres smoking, looking at him and smiling all nonchelant and stuff!!!!!
He shat himself, but found it most amusing!!!!

it's "normal" to pass superbikes who think they are flying when you know the track well. The ring is all about circuit knowledge, without it you will be relatively slow, no matter what you are riding or driving.
