Bizarre you should mention that, but it almost like he knows something is going on. He won't leave me alone and has had the puppy dog eyes for a few days, since I decided to rehome him. They say there clever, but ;)

babber, its awful, when I lost my first bulldog winston for the 2 weeks leading up to his loss he spent ALOT more time with me etc, if only I knew something was wrong with him earlier :( like u say they say they are cleverer than we know

Chris L 24 March 2004 07:14 PM

Phill - he looks even better as a grown up! What a lovely dog - a proper lion head staffy! As other people have said, it is breaking my heart to read this thread. I hope you get something sorted out soon.

I would also agree with the stuff you've written about their attitude to other dogs etc. Scooby can be a little funny with other dogs - it is certainly a bitch thing. She has had one fight which has landed me with £100 vets bill, but she does seemed to have calmed down now - which again sort of fits in with what you wrote.

I'll pass the word around aswell.

Cheers
Chris

Well I'm sure you can all understand that I'm deeply upset about him having to go, yet when I find him a suitable home, I'll also be pleased for him as he'll be a great family pet. I know how gutted I was when I had my cat put down last year!!

My daughters saw him today for what could be the last time and they were totally devestated, but know it'll be for the best. First time the Ex has let me see the girls for 3 weeks :(

As for his head, I reckon it'll grow another 2 inches or so yet. Remember he's only 14 month and although his bones in his body have stopped growing now, his muscles will still be developing for another 6 months or so, along with his skull. I've look high and low for his pedigree, but It's in a box somewhere, and where I don't know. I was intending finding some pictures of his father.

Anyway, I'll keep you informed.

Phill

PS to add a little humour, he has been chipped with a John Banks postal Tek 2.5 ;)

Just sent an email to the breeder with this link, so hopefully he may be able to help regarding Thorns history.

Thanks again Phill

MooseRacer 24 March 2004 08:32 PM

If it's a decent breeder they should take him back no problem at all.

Really upset for you, can't imagine what you must be feeling. I did casually mention to mrs moose that we might like to get another dog, but she seemd to think 3 might be excessive ;)

I really hope you manage to find him a decent home.

loony toon 24 March 2004 09:10 PM

What a wonderful looking dog and such a shame you have to give him up. I have a boxer/rottweiler cross who has just been given three months to live due to aggressive cancer in his rear flanks, unfortunatly they wont operate due to the fact it will come back even quicker. I have been thinking about another dog and will mention it to the good lady seeing as Thorn has been with young children it would make an ideal replacement due to the fact i have a 4yr old girl who will lose her best friend in the near future

best regards

tony

BTTT
- this one needs a happy ending!

babber 25 March 2004 11:54 AM

Breeder read this thread last night and contacted me. Discussed a few options, including him having him back immediately. This would cause even more drama for Thorn, so he said he'll phone around friends today from the staffy club, etc and see what we can come up with. I really want to place him in a good home first time.

I said I'd forward the emails I'd had from people interested and he said he'd look through them. I'll keep you all informed.

Phill

harvey 25 March 2004 11:55 AM

Phil: Did you get my e-mail yesterday?

babber 25 March 2004 12:13 PM

Harvey yes I did see your email thanks, and it's a very kind offer.

I have 3 more pictures taken today that are nice. Could anyone host them for me please ?

Thanks Phill

Redkop,

There all sorted now thanks. As you can see he's looking fine today ;) Ones a bit out of focus, but never mind.

Thanks Phill

m18use 25 March 2004 02:55 PM

He is a lovely dog and I know how upset phil will be when he goes.
I would have him but its unfair as i am never home and he loves attention.
He is currently running around in my garden like a idiot:D

Muffleman 25 March 2004 03:22 PM

It really is difficult to not offer, but with four cats one dog and a pregnant wife - I really can't take him in at the moment.

But I do wish you, and Thorn, all the best.

Cheers

Matt

He's gorgeous, would love to have him, but timings not right with current dog having to be kept quiet for 3 months :( :(

Any update Phill?

m18use 25 March 2004 08:16 PM

Just got off the telephone with Mike, Thorns breeder. He spent most of the night last night phoning around friends and staffy people he knows, and looks like we may be in luck. The owner of Thorns father (Mikes mate) is very very interested and looks like him and Mike are going to come and collect him Saturday morning. :( As I was a little upset and not listening, I'm not sure if he's (Mikes mate) going to keep him himself, or if they'll find suitable owners (based on what I've said he needs i.e. a family enviroment) either way I KNOW he'll be in safe hands.

Ex wife told me today, she not interested or bothered about all this.

I'm sat here crying like a little girl wishing it never came to all this, but that's life. He's running around chasing his ball, toys and reflections as always, acting like a village idiot.

Right time to texts all Thorns friends (my mates that are dog lovers) so they can come and say bye!!!

Hopefully soon, a happy ending ;)

Thanks again all, Phill

PS I reckon I'll be pissed out my face on Saturday afternoon

Thanks all, Phill

Keep us informed if you have any updates about his re-homing please.

MooseRacer 27 March 2004 12:35 PM

Sad day Phill, feel for you - I can hardly begin to imagine how you must be feeling, I know I'd be gutted if I was in your shoes. I hope he gets the new home he deserves.
