The Nissan 200sx is so scary in the wet and its brillaint. The unltimate drift machine. :D :D

Wet weather + RWD is the most fun you can have in a car (as long as you have a decent LSD and know what your doing)

Forget PMS, DSC, 4x4 thats for girls :p :p :p

"The Nissan 200sx is so scary in the wet and its brillaint. "

i also had one of these.....and a TVR.....and a scoob....and a 540.

nissan nearly killed my wife when she crashed it...slid very easily and not an ideal car for joe public on our roads.....TVR same as the above but at least ppl know what they are getting and expect it.

scoob...superb in the wet. BMW is faster than TVR or Nissan in the wet but not as fast as the scoob.

Tiggers- i know you were kidding- i just ignored your smiley ;)

T

ps- why are non-scoob owners here? why not? theres lots of ppl here, i never look in any forum other than non scoob and other marks so i that sense its like piston heads only busier.

Ive got a BMW 330ci sport and a Nissan 200sx S14. Both cars are nice but I find the 330 a bit boring. Its also very difficult to make it slide in the wet, it never looses traction and I dont think they are dangerous. Not sure about the E46 M3 but the 330 is very good in the wet as long as you are sensible, every car will be dangerous in the wet if you are not sensible.

The 200sx is a differnt story. Totally crazy car. But I learnt someting about the 200sx. When ever I feel the back end going I put my foot down on the clutch. Let the car 'coast' and it kinda straigtens itself out (with a bit of opposite lock). Ive also told my girlfriend this little trick but she refuses to drive. I think she's too posh for a Nissan.
The 200sx is the only car Ive had fun in at 20mph. You dont need 300+BHP and driving like there is no tomorrow to have fun. Speed isn't everything. I think its why the Jap's love them so much. In fact they Jap's love the 200sx so much it's virtually impossible to export one at a reasonable price

Having owned a Scooby then a 540i and now an E46 M3, I would comment that none of them are 'dodgy' in the wet, you simply need to adjust your driving style. I always felt that the Impreza was very progressive when it was letting go on the public road and you were able to take liberties with the way you drove it. The major dofference for me is that you find yourself concentrating a little more in the M3. It's not massively slower at all than the Subaru in the wet, it just demands more driving. In the Scooby I seem to remember just pushing it hard even in the wet. A little like a 1990's computer game just accelerate and steer. Usually on the public road you never went fast enough to challenge the grip of the chassis etc. From my own experience, in the dry the M3 is quicker. It's just not as easy to cover ground quickly.

DSC on the E46 M3 is really good.

You can drive very quickly and very clumsily in the wet.

Guy you followed musn't have been too confident a driver or maybe he was getting a BJ off a nice young lady, this is one of the best benefits of having a BMW, happens all the time and it's very easy due to the SMG gear box as you can keep both hands on the wheel whilst she leans over :D

Merry Christmas

you all need to turn the traction control off in the wet and make your cars heterosexual cars....

tvr would be turning in their beds at the thought of traction control...

grow some hairs on yer chest boys...

Tiggers, you really should go to a specialist about the problem you have.

I managed to spin a Pug 406 on a wet roundabout at 30mph from a lift off. Far worse than the Scooby in this respect.
Wasnt on the A33 between Reading and Basingstoke was it John? :D I ask as on my way to work a chap in a 406 coupe span 180 degrees at what looked like a very slow speed.

Simon.

FWIW, my friend has an M3 EVO (e36) and says he has to drive very conservatively in the wet else his ass is all over the place.

[bait]
I'd imagine a scoob would p1ss all over one in the wet.

Does your 'friend's' car have DSC? M-diff?

Edited to say: Akshay, did you see the Autocar test of the M3 and S4 on a wet track? Imagine which one was quicker in the wet and dry?

I'd imagine the M3 was quicker? I think in the hands of a semi-pro track driver the the M3 would be quicker as they'd be able to control it.

Average Joe would be too busy changing their underwear. Or they just wouldn't drive that hard.

It's a P-reg Evo, not sure what gizmos it has...

emthreewillneverbe,

It was said as a bit of fun - hence the emoticon you conveniently removed. Maybe it is you who have the problem - try not being quite so ready to jump down someone's throat in future. And if you're a good boy maybe Santa will bring you your hallowed M3 for Christmas - you deserve each other after all :D <---- NOTE THE EMOTICON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All the best,

tiggers.

OK guys!! Fair enough I know when I'm beaten!

Anyway I gotta get over to the Members Gallery forum as someone has dared to say the old shape Honda ITR is not as nice as the new shape - need to go and write reams of cack blindly defending my beloved car. Oh and thanks as without you guys I wouldn't have a clue how to go about this!

Cheers,

tiggers.

MooseRacer 23 December 2003 07:13 AM

See you there tiggers :D

Skittles 23 December 2003 09:06 AM

I had the previous shape M3. It was a 98 R reg before DSC and traction control and I only lost that once and that was in the dry! :) My front left tyre just basically disintegrated (Mich Pilot Sport) and straight through the bushes I went! It was nothing to do with the fact that I was going far to fast though. Of course not. :p

DSC is very good though. I've been on a driving course using 330 sport saloons at the Prodrive track in Warwick. They simulate all different types of road surfaces and hazards. DSC has two levels on those. So we did the same hazzards with it on fully, partially on and off. The same with ABS too. It was very impressive.

If you can buy one with it, I'd say it is worth it IMHO as you can always switch it off, but I certainly wouldn't be put off from buying a car just because it hasn't got it. If you dont know where your own limits are I don't think anything is really going to stop you getting into a serious mess at some stage. DSC might just be false security.
