I have a dobermann and boxer both 20 months old.
Dobermann very loyal and is getting over her distructive bit now. Never touched the new sofa or anything of value, just her bed and stuff in the garden etc.
Wouldnt have any other dog now and should be breeding her in a couple of months time.
Mail me if you need any info and i will try to help
Regards

Robin Sherwoods storey is a famous one :D

My parents bred Dobermanns from a bitch they bought from Margaret Batibulls line.

The KC papers were all red until my parents started breeding them.

They had 3 litters and kept the best from each and so you can say I grew up with them from 10 to 35!

They are loyal, fierce, brave and very bright.................not so obedient! )Ok Ok a training issue!

I used to run with them up to half marathon distance and so they can take their exercise.

I would not want a couped up Dobbermann!

Since moving to London the chance to have a big dog has not been possible, so I now have ...............

Jim

Have you looked on the PetPlanet rehoming site?

That's where Scooby was advertised, she was a rescue dog and six months old when we got her from a High Peak kennels in Derbyshire. She has turned into a fantastic guard dog since we've had her, very loyal and protective of her home and humans, wherever we are she'll guard it, be it in the car, another house etc etc :D

This is her when we went to see her in the kennels, how could we say no?

This is her guarding some car mags, she's put on some bulk since this was taken

I hope you find what you are looking for, your old dogs were a credit to you :)

Scooby is the most un-Staffie looking Staff I've ever seen :) but she's lovely - ahhhh. They do need a fair amount of exercise and they do need some training, but as Sal says - she is a first rate guard dog - you wouldn't come near the front door if you heard her bark :) Other thing to remember is that they are very strong. Scooby is only 12 months old, but she weighs 20kg - all muscle. Great dog though - I wouldn't give her up for anything else :)

what would scooby do 16 December 2002 02:06 PM

and if you want a serious dog don't buy a labrador - they is crazy - just look at Pip below. She always carries a white rubber bone sideways in her mouth so we have started calling her backslash LOL

Jim

We are getting a GSD puppy mid January - and have been recommended by a few people to a breeder near Baldock. Apparently they are a great temprement and esp good with the kids....

Both wife and I have had dogs in the past but never a GSD - always wanted one though - can't wait :D

I still find it hard to believe that a dog like that would be given away,i was over joyed when i saw him.

Well the story goes that a single mum had him along with 3 young childern, the dog was mainly kept outside in a kennel and she just could not cope with him.
He is only a year old so he has a lot of filling out to do,he is a great dog but he needs a lot of attention so he will be well suited to me.

Diablo 19 December 2002 10:27 AM

Well done mate :)

Give a great dog a great life :)

Rescue dogs, in my experience, are even more loyal - its as if they understand they are getting a better chance :)

Meet one most mornings when I'm out with Xena.

Never one to resist the urge to post another pic :D
