That centre is not a HKS.. Either that or your car isnt a subaru.

Pics Tonight.

David

Cheers Nom, that would be great!

Does it look like this?

D'oh! Been looking for that :)

Yep, that's the one - except the centre's black on mine for some reason

ptholt 27 November 2002 11:32 AM

Well its defo not a blitz centre section i can tell you that.

The centre section from my blitz had no resonator like that, just a slightly wider circular section, not a square one.

Could be a magnex possibly? as they make a centre section which is the same length as the blitz (by that i mean shorter than hks) and it does have a square resonator like the one in the pic on the 1st page.

The BB is even a difference shape, isn't it?

P20SPD 27 November 2002 12:24 PM

I know, its really weird, i was just looking at that, but then i dont know wether its down to the BB being the Titanium jobee?:confused:

Hugh138 27 November 2002 03:39 PM

I assume it didn't go well last night? :(

P20SPD 27 November 2002 03:42 PM

'kin cross aint the word! Yours took way too long to do, especially for 2 people that have done loads of them each!

Hows yours sound anyway, looks much better for a start:D

Hugh138 27 November 2002 03:50 PM

Good, if a little boomier on motorway journeys :) The knocking on the towbar is tolerable atm, but once it gets too annoying (and we still haven't sorted out the towbar removal) I'll get some longer hangers. Lots of good burbles anyway :)

Another thing, the boot used to get warm after a journey through the heat from the back box. Having removed the heatshield its no longer warm! Good design Subaru

P20SPD 27 November 2002 03:53 PM

And you have less weight by removing it:D

Nice noise though!

Wait while you get an induction kit on it, then it becomes noisier:D

Funny how both David and I said how quite your car seemed, after the exhaust transplant:rolleyes:

Hugh138 27 November 2002 03:59 PM

You lot are a very bad influence! :D Shall have to spend more time with the bank manager to remind me not to spend my money :)

And it's noisey enough for me atm - my car can't justify sounding like a jet until it can perform like one!

Edited to add thanks for all the work you two did last night - much appreciated.

Jolly Green Monster 2 27 November 2002 10:33 PM

Sorry to see you are having troubles with the exhaust Steven...

Hope you can sort it.

Hugh,

I had trouble with my Scoobysport BB hitting the towbar, despite the previous owner putting a nice dent in the tail pipe to clear his

I put two cable ties through the rubber hangers at an angle so it pulled the box over to one side slightly.. and not a knock since and have done about 2,000miles since with no probs.. you might be able to do similar? just a thought.

JGM :)

Hugh138 27 November 2002 11:22 PM

JGM, I'll have to have a think about that - sounds far too technical :)

Jolly Green Monster 2 28 November 2002 12:15 AM

Hugh,

Been drinking so not sure whether you are serious or taking the pee..

My BB was knocking on right hand bends as the exhaust was moving to the left etc..

So I put a cable tie around the lug on the righthand hanger of the exhaust on the lefthandside of it and tied it up over the lug on the car on the righthand side and pushed the exhaust over to the right and pulled the cable tie tight.. stopped the exhaust moving too far towards the left.. sorry if that makes no sense..

I think it would have knocked on the tailpipe had the previous owner of the BB not put a piece of wood between the tailpipe and towbar and jacked the exhaust up onto it... how he didn't damage anything other than the tail pipe where it needed it I dunno. :)

Doesn't notice until you drop on your hands and knees..

I am sure I am waffling.. off to read another thread now

JGM :)

Excellent job :)

Looks very weird seeing that familiar looking garage with the wrong colour car in it.. and in less bits too :)

JGM :)

jnaylor 28 November 2002 03:34 AM

Fosters?

You guys all the way over there drink Fosters from down-under? :D

BarkingMad 28 November 2002 05:12 AM

I'm guessing David is using the Fosters as a solvent for the workshop... no-one drinks that pi55 water, do they?

What sort of lagging are you using on the down pipe??... I'm getting extremely annoyed at the resonance of the exhaust in the cabin on the freeway.

Alex.

P20SPD 28 November 2002 08:37 AM

Still not happy:(

Exhaust wrap is from demon tweeks in motorsport, then engine tuning, then heat management, then the one that starts from £9.32.

David, can i try your hyper system for the weekend please??

Steven

ps thanks for posting the pics:D

David_Wallis 28 November 2002 09:25 AM

No problems.. Ill take it off tonight... or Ill get one of the lads that work in my home garage to do it! :p

P20SPD 28 November 2002 10:10 AM

Cheers Mate:D

David_Wallis 28 November 2002 10:16 AM

we were drinking fosters as it was cold, and cheap.

besides I dont do much if I drink stella.

P20SPD 28 November 2002 11:09 AM

I was just about to say, its one of the few you can drink and still do some work. Although it did become confusing with all the fosters cans lieing about (i only had 2 over space of 5 hours). David said it would have been easier if they were Stella and Guinness, that way no mix up:D

Pavlo 28 November 2002 11:43 AM

Is the consensus of opinion that this isn't a Super Dragger at all?

Paul

P20SPD 28 November 2002 11:56 AM

Back box is stamped HKS with the Ti for Titanium logo on it!

Pretty damn certain now that the centre is NOT an HKS item!

I am borrowing davids so i can get a feel for the additional noise of the hyper/hiper. I am then going to get a new centre section made up specifically, its just wether to put a resonator in or not!

Easiest way is to try Davids for a while!

BTW the person i bought it off has offered to either take it back, or pay for a new centre making, which is very honest and decent, i would have done the same.

I think i will go for the centre pipe, obviously without the resonator it will be cheaper! I just need to decide on the noise factor.

Steven

TBMeech 28 November 2002 02:31 PM

Steven,

You'll find the Hiper is much louder, makes the car sound more 'Raw' than the Drager, depends on the noise levels you want, personally I prefer the noise of the Hiper....

P20SPD 28 November 2002 02:39 PM

Cheers Toby, i have heard Davids often enough, and know that it is alot louder than the system on mine at the moment. I really like the sound, but i dont know wether i could live with it for 30000 miles a year!

TBMeech 28 November 2002 02:43 PM

Steven,

I reckon the Drager bb with a meaty 3" Straight thru centre will sound choice, imho the Drager sounds just as loud as a Hiper once above 4,500 revs, so by putting a non resonated centre you'll get a really nice sound from it, should be extremely efficient too :)

Pavlo 28 November 2002 02:49 PM

go with the dragger

30,000 miles dude! You'll spend the money you save on the exhaust on earplugs if you get rid of the resonator!

Paul
