Guys, how much on the old insurance??? Are you on Rum*'s extra £95 deal. What ins coy is that??

So many questions......;)

LeonB 10 October 2002 05:50 PM

i don't think the exhaust noise is too loud..it's certainly louder than the standard one but its not as loud as the engine when giving it some WOT unless you're going through a tunnel that is! :)

for insurance, i'm with privilege and it fell into their 11%-20% performance increase band and cost me an extra 10% on top of my premium!! :(

johnfelstead 10 October 2002 05:56 PM

cat bypass front centre section.
dont you mean replacement front centre section and not a bypass pipe still retaining the 2nd cat?

T5NYW 10 October 2002 07:14 PM

Stop being cantankerous or you won't get another chance to raid my wine cellar;);)

Written in a hurry, but yes I mean the PPP front centre section is straight through to replace the 2nd cat.....:p

DT-S, the JF man has a few points though :)

Forget peak boost, you can even argue if a peak really accomplishes something.

You can change - as you know - a)boost b)ignition c)fuelling d)VE e) match those ingredients into a sensible and coherent mix

No doubt the exhaust bit will take care of quite a few things, but yes, they must have upped the boost (not the peak per sé) to get to a higher BHP figure. Knowing Prodrive (that is, seeing the previous PPP's), they will have taken care to keep it safe both fuelling & ignition wise.

My point is ... erm... I wish I knew LOL :D

OK, point would be: Prodrive has tested that particular map with that particular exhaust etc... so he is right in saying that - with all respect - the starter of this thread is not actually talking about the PPP, but about a modded PPP.

You yourself have seen how exhausts can modify boost behaviour (in an extreme way) on the STi7. So his point is valid.

Just for my education... the turbo on the UK STi7, is that a VF30 or a VF35 ?

PELHAM 10 October 2002 08:51 PM

Does the PPP include any badging?? 'PRO300' for example??

john banks 10 October 2002 08:54 PM

Is it actually a remap or a MAP sensor alteration? I reckon the latter. Does it matter?

Dave T-S 10 October 2002 09:43 PM

Theo

Hi mate:D

I wasn't questioning Felstie's novels regarding gas flow, but his pickiness regarding my clumsy wording of the second cat removal:D:D

He has a point, up to a point, but the rear centre section is effectively a straight through pipe despite having a resonator in it. Biggest benefit to swopping it for a non resonated one is more NOISE - luvverly:D

BTW, the UK STi turbo is a VF35.

Pelham
There's only one STi7 with a "PRO300" plate on ;) :D

abradley 11 October 2002 01:18 AM

Hope it makes it to Australia!

Dave T-S 11 October 2002 08:47 AM

The corkscrew, the wine cellar or the PPP???;);)

Fitz 11 October 2002 09:22 AM

sorry chaps, being a bit dumb here....

but what is the noise impact of the new exhaust....

too loud, too quiet, same as before ????

Jza 11 October 2002 01:09 PM

Dave T-S... does this mean they havent fitted you PPP yet????

Jza

Dave T-S 11 October 2002 01:16 PM

Correct.....

russell hayward 11 October 2002 02:36 PM

Come on then Tony, what's the verdict ?

Barnaby 11 October 2002 02:52 PM

He's probably too busy driving it to reply ;)

integra 11 October 2002 05:47 PM

in conclusion PPP is a very good thing???

NC2.5RS 11 October 2002 07:25 PM

Sounds like it to me. What are the power boosts that you get from it? Just Curious.

T5NYW 11 October 2002 09:01 PM

Russ.
I posted something:D
